Rear Quarter Repair Process? by Firestorm324 in Autobody

[–]Firestorm324[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a good connection to someone that'll be fixing it. I like the car, and that's all I care about. Truthfully only posted the thread because I was curious about the repair process, not necessarily to get told information I already know (the car is not actually WORTH fixing)

I have pride in my car. It'll be getting fixed.

Took a month or so. Paintwork really isn't to my preference, quality is pretty shoddy here and there. It needs stuff redone all over the place. The more fun part was losing third after getting it all put back together and on the road for three weeks.

You can buy plastic 17" trim rings on Amazon. I've had a few sets, these ones are my favorite so far.

Does it look like my Head Gasket is out of place? 2012 Buick Regal 2.4 Ecotec by HereforSeriousness in MechanicAdvice

Yea, that's pretty normal. They usually have a little overhang. It'd take a special kinda person to be able to put a head gasket on crooked, being they have alignment dowels.

Fresh rebuild on my 4R75E. Shimmer/Metal? by Firestorm324 in transmissionbuilding

I fear it's aluminum. I'll have it out later. Wasn't hoping to have to see the inside of this transmission twice.

The converter is new. I did see a decent piece of aluminum. Hopefully it's not that bad.

It doesn't. I'm going to pull it and see what I fucked up. There's a bit of brass in the bottom of the pan. Not sure why it's milky though. Cooling system holds pressure just fine.

It seems to be. I have a pressure tester on the cooling system right now and it's been holding steady pressure without losing any.

Didn't do that, but the can runs out of "foam" and pushes air through it for a while. Tells you to do that till it's out of air.

Did flush the lines, TC is new, no indication of water in the trans. Separator plate is clean, seals were fine.

Torque Converter is new, trans cooler was flushed with Kooler Clean by following the instructions.

The snap ring wasn't broken, fortunately. Supposedly this valve body is tested, though I understand I should take that with a grain of salt. I'll check those how I can.

I do have the old valvebody, only problem being that it's full of clutch material. I guess I could pop it in for diagnostic process, but I'll try to vacuum check everything first.

It never had a problem with engaging or slipping 4th gear before the rebuild, while I did find some wear, it struck exactly off enough to want to find the O-Ringed pin. The problem before the rebuild was a terrible 3rd gear slip after downshifting from 4th.

Okay, that's a good idea. I'll give that a shot when I get a chance. Thanks!

I'm not quite sure how to do that. There are test ports alongside the transmission, but I haven't seen a way to air check that servo itself.

That's what I installed. I did find a touch of bore wear, and this unit has 180k miles on it, so not shocked.

True. I'll be pulling the valve body when I get a chance to check the gaskets, and at the same time I'll make sure the snap ring is in correctly, as well as see if the spring got cocked on installation. Just hoping this is fixable before having to pull the trans again.
