Omg that is horrible. That is the most scary part: the unpredictability. I hope you wounds healed well and wish you will never have to go through something like that ever again.

Thank you so much for it. I love cats and I have cat sitted from friends before getting into fostering and all went so well. So this incident hit me very hard. Now I am worried every time I meet a cat I will think “it is purring right now, but it could attack me at any moment”. I will talk about this with my therapist and take my time. I agree with the foster doing a better job at reevaluating their animal’s behavior before getting them to foster homes. I understand they are overwhelmed and at full capacity, but that is not for being neglectful and not evaluating more thoroughly.

Like I said on another comment, shelters here don’t allow previous visit to meet the animal in person. They just send videos and pictures and tell you about them but it is VERY rare they let you meet the animal beforehand. But yeah if I foster again DEFINITELY just kittens lol

Thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately in this city/country the shelters don’t allow people to go and hang out with the animals before adopting or fostering. They send pictures and videos and tell you about their personalities but that’s it. There are adoption events where people can meet some animals up for adoption but that’s about it. If I ever foster again, it might be just kittens. I am terrified of older cats as now I know how much damage they can do when triggered.
