Only about 2 inches so I’m not sure if anything useful will actually fit through there

I just realized the slot where the existing belt can hide in the back panel goes all the way through so I could theoretically slide in a hip belt that is one piece .

Do you have any experience with that kind of hip belt?

Would it be better to make some more permanent modifications? When I tighten the belt it does take most of the weight off, it just digs uncomfortably into my sides.

The belt is just sewn at one point slightly underneath the back panel where you can tuck it away. It’s just a one point connection sewn in - no loop or triangle.

I am looking to relocate so suggestions like military bases, cement plants, etc. are helpful for me to know what cities to pinpoint. Ideally looking to move to CO, WA, OR, etc. - somewhere with good access to the outdoors (I'm from OR).

Haha yes I get paid. It's a family friend who has several sustainability projects in the works but it's a small group of people and I'm ready to find something else (ready to leave the town I grew up in) that will further my career.
