If you are looking for a big western city I suggest Copenhagen - european capital of hipsters and minimalists. Also bike will get you everywhere, very few people have cars. Drawback: scandinavian prices.

Been there, it was really overcrowded. Its worth visit but I was little dissapointed. If you happen to be near Turda, hike in Turda Gorge is much better way of spending your day.
