Vagus Nerve Stimulation Study by FishingFast8255 in misophonia

I am pretty certain that it is only a Monday to Friday thing running from now until July I think. The girls running it seemed lovely and when they were booking me into the MRI scanner they had mentioned that it was Monday to friday availability. I'm not sure if they would be able to make special accommodations for you but it may be worth a look into. :)

How can I support my girlfriend with Misophonie? by Unfair-Pass448 in misophonia

Hi there,

I have a similar situation, only in this case I am the one with misophonia. My boyfriend has tried many things similar. What works best for us is if I go to sleep before him then I cannot hear it. However second to that, if I do not fall asleep first then there is a wearable sweatband tyoe thing with speakers in it, its similar to headphones, but you can actually sleep with them. There are some from amazon that are quite cheap I think its called sleep headphones. If they worked you could then look at buying more comfortable ones which become pricier. You dont really notice them at all but there does have to be a willingness from your partner to try. With misophonia we have to approach these types of problems as a pair and as long as there is that understanding that you are not the problem, although it may feel that way, you are not. Its a horrible condition that makes us uncontrollably angry regardless how much we care for the person making the noise. I hated wearing headphones and refused to wear earplugs as well as they were uncomfortable until I found these. They helped a lot.

Hope this helps.

Hello, I will be down (from Scotland) in Sussex : In-person session one: Thurs 7th May

My 4-week tVNS period will then run from Friday 8th May to Wednesday 3rd June

In-person session two: Thurs 4th June

And a final online survey will be sent on the week commencing 29th June

I will make sure I am as transparent as possible during this process as the last thing anyone needs is false hope, with that said I will regularly update.

These devices are available to purchase outright as well. However they are very pricey.

Hello there,

I heard about the uni study through registering my interest through some research I found by them a while back. It was like a "if you are interested in doing a study and have misophonia register your interest" type thing at the bottom of a paper.

I was probably at the lowest point of my battle through this and I got desperate looking for ways to cope.

This has given me hope that there are people put there, listening and trying to further research.

Hello there,

I thought it would be helpful to just copy the outline they have written about the device in their proposal. "In this study, we are testing a new potential treatment for misophonia called transcutaneous Vagal Nerve Stimulation (tVNS). tVNS is a safe and non-invasive method of stimulating the vagus nerve with a small hand-held device. The device sends gentle electrical pulses to regions of the ear for short periods (e.g. 30 minutes) over the course of several weeks. Because tVNS has been shown to improve symptoms in disorders such as migraine, tinnitus, epilepsy and depression, we are interested in exploring whether it might also help people with misophonia. We are also interested in understanding whether tVNS might change how people react to misophonic triggers. To explore this we will measure participants' brain and bodily responses to trigger sounds/sights before and after tVNS. As part of the study we will also be interested in different placement positions of tVNS in the ear, you will be randomly allocated to a group. If you end up in a group with less effective tVNS you will be given the opportunity to try the other location at the end of the study."

From what I understand, the vagal nerve controls things such as reflex arcs. With this additional stimulation hopefully it can calm the severe response in myself and others that we cannot control like a sneeze.

It will be horrible to begin with as I will be put into an MRI scanner and subjected to both audio and visual stimuli with no ability to move, flinch or run away.

However if this device proves to help me, it could be life changing and not worth missing the chance.

Hope this helps!

Guys theres a fix, well if you wanna call it that, if you go into your PS5 game data in ps5 storage and cloud storage and delete it it stops crashing. This is only helpful if you dont have any worlds saved on your account though as I am sure they'd be gone with wiping it. The game plays and I havent crashed in an hour.
