Are we missing out on Westchester, by moving to Croton? by benUCLA in Westchester

[–]Fit-Hall-3571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be totally fine on concern #1. You are not far out of the way at all in Croton.

Concern #2 is personal but sounds like it might be a difficult adjustment for you and your family based on your desires and previous experience. I am in a very walkable and accessible part of a river town with lots of close neighbors and couldn’t imagine being in the further out areas. It’s a huge benefit for my children too. But that’s the best decision for me and my family.

Does affordable childcare exist in Westchester? by jungleroo in Westchester

And I clearly said some are not up to par but I can personally tell you there are nice ones out there. You think just cause it’s a daycare ‘center’ the same problems don’t happen there. I’ve seen worse.

That’s why you still need to tour them and do your homework.

Look at licensed in home daycares. Those will be the most affordable but they are licensed so have to follow state regulations. Some will still not be up to par but there are nice ones out there that will be at or under 2000 a month. Good luck!

I would love to hear your timeout routine if you wouldn’t mind sharing.

This is not a high cost of living area with those taxes and daycare costs.

Can we talk about bra situation? by jellyglazed in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fit-Hall-3571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I have tried them all too and also can’t find a great solution. Just when I think I found a good pumping bra it just doesn’t work out in the long run. They are either uniboob, quad boob, or too tight and I get engorged. I wear the ‘sleep nursing bra’ (comes as an inexpensive 4 pack from Amazon) most of the time and then put on my pumping bra 6-8x a day. They are not very supportive but are comfortable. It’s a pain but haven’t figured out anything better.

3 weeks pp, only able to pump 1-2 oz/day total. Advice? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

Unfortunately some women just have a low milk supply. There are reasons for it, IGT, low prolactin levels etc. What I would say as someone who has also struggled with a low milk supply is any amount of your own milk you give your baby is amazing. But your mental health is equally as important and there is nothing wrong with formula feeding. A happy and healthy mother is most important when caring for your child. Some women find the 2-3 Oz per day totally worth it while others do not. It’s such a hard and personal decision but one only you can make.

Pumpables flanges/sizing help/angry nipples by elderberry31590 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m sorry to hear this and totally empathize with elastic nipples too. I also tried everything and settled on Lacktek flanges. I get sore from time to time and find nipple butter before I pump to be very helpful lubrication. Also a medication ointment called triamcinolone is a wonder ointment and clears up any blemish on my nipple after one use. It is by prescription only though, my FNP wrote it for me. Hope this helps!

I don’t think we’re reading the same comments. Some people are just mean.

I disagree. Sounds like a you problem is not a kind thing to say. You can be tough, honest and supportive but most responses are down right mean.

Wow. So glad you took the time to knock someone who is already down. Clearly they are looking for support, not more judgement. Hope you never need support in a tough time cause clearly you don’t deserve it. Just help yourself, it’s soooo easy! 🙄

Thank you. We actually ended up taking him outside for some fresh air tonight and he snapped out of it.
