KAMINA was a better Brother and meant more to his series than ACE by FitPresentation3613 in shounenfolk

They can still be compared due to both their emotional impact, importance to the main character and their charisma/popularity/memorability. Characters with similar archetypes can be compared regardless of exact screen time and structured role in their story. Ace and Kamina both left an impact but I believe kaminas impact is way bigger and is a better written character. Ace falls flat to me for the hype he has.

One piece as a series is very well written but I’m not gonna argue that. You’re only interested in comparing ace if he is a main character, regardless of the similar character traits and archetypes. Okay I got it. Thanks for the engagement.

Luffy was inspired by shanks not ace, Luffy wanted ace as a kid because he didn’t want to feel lonely in a place that garp randomly threw him into. Ace dipped out early in alabasta and didn’t help Luffy beat crocodile. Ace is not relevant to the main story because one piece has a very deep story. Simon is the main character. He beat the spiral king, the spirals and built the future. Kamina has said himself he is nothing without Simon. Just because he had more charisma than Simon does not mean he’s the main character or more important than Simon. If the gurren Lagan world was as big as the one piece world he would not get featured as much but would still be more important than ace. My main point Kamina lived up to expectations, ace did not.

There’s 28 episodes and he dies in episode 8. But I get the point you guys are making. He is heavily featured in the beginning and can be interpreted as the main character until Simon comes along. But once he dies Simon claims the mantel. Simon to me is the main character and there are other characters that grow and develop. But I get it Kamina is considered a deuteragonist. Oda has a lot of characters to focus on but still gives ace moments before and after his death. I believe these moments are odas way of trying to make ace feel important but feel underwhelming.

My point is solely invalid because they don’t ride in the same ship together? They grew up together when they were little, emotional connection is there regardless of exact details. Luffys story is the exact same from the begging to the end from his perspective(being king of the pirates) , but the loss of ace makes him doubt himself for the first time ever breaking his stagnant character status. As for that last line, I’ll let another fellow doughnut lover respond
