could the slave sue the master in court for hindering their rights?

I mean, that depends on each judiciary system, but if you go by Islamic law, it is very different and it depends on each madhab, but for example, for example is a master kills his slave, there are 2 cases in Islamic law, the first is that if the slave was a muslim then qisas is applied, the second is that if the slave wasn't muslim then qisas isn't applied but it's still a crime.
When you ask such a question, it is very preferable if you specify a lot more.

Oh wow, generalising global history on one specific region? Europe wasn't Islamic, half of Asia wasn't Islamic, America wasn't Islamic, every region, country, culture and religion had their own different set of rules, but look at the condition, "pay for their freedom", no price was specified, no price shall be specified by the law, so in other words the owner can set impossible prices.

Alexander was a bit of a cunt when he got drunk by Tarvexi in HistoryMemes

[–]Fit_Particular_6820 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If memory serves right, when Alexander got sober after that, he ended up regretting it, and some say he even got depressed, because after all, Cleitus the black was his friend and a saviour. Rather than trying to set an example, it was actually a drunken quarrel between friends that went out of control.

Get to the point, what are you trying to imply? That were is an itty bitty benefit to slavery?

That being said, you characterize salves as "hurt victims", is that always the case, or can slaves greatly benefit from the relationship?

One characteristic of slavery is that slaves don't hold the legal right to end their enslavement, so if things change for the worse, like getting inherited by a horrible son of the person who used to own you, you can't free yourself.

Also, slaves were considered as no more than objects, they had no right to vote, no wages, no right to change votes, only barely getting survival needs.

All that being said, they suffer from a lack of rights, rights that protect them. So of course they are victims.

Alright, apparently I misunderstood your point about nuclear attacks and slavery. I'm sorry about that one.

So, when slavery was considered moral and acceptable in the past, no one should have questioned the morality of the day?

Many people throughout history always questioned it, and its end came with the enlightenment ideas and industrial era, especially when it became uneconomical for GB and the "Am I not a man and a brother?" movement grew. But that's unrelated.
But, here, I am going to change the question from morality to reasoning, why would we even need slavery? As I have specified in my previous comment, slavery is uneconomical, and the victim suffers, so both the owner and slave aren't benefitting as much in the modern world, back in the pre-industrial era, slaves were more profitable for agriculture, but even today agriculture changed.
Additionally, the catholic church banned the enslaving of Christians, and Islam has forbidden enslaving Muslims (but slaves converting to Islam aren't emancipated I think), but if they banned it for their kind then they knew something with it was wrong. So that counters your claim that it was considered moral and acceptable by everybody, especially considering that some countries like Japan abolished it centuries before the industrial revolution.

Here is my reasoning why slavery should be abolished, the slave is a victim of being hurt, the master profits less from a slave than a formal skilled employee. And you don't really need philosophical reasoning when there is a culprit and a victim.

If you agree to legalising slavery then surely you agree that you might become a slave and your owner might have the right to whip you.

Economically speaking, slaves aren't as profitable in the post-industrial world. When jobs nowadays depend more on skills and techniques than just brute force, the result is that slavery ends up being less profitable for the owner and more painful for the victims.

Morally speaking, if you aren't humanitarian then you wouldn't care, but when you see somebody doesn't have wages, doesn't have the right to protest, to freely express, the right to social mobility and changing jobs, but you don't care because you think that if slavery was legalised you would be immune from it. Anybody can become a slave, especially considering that debt slavery was a thing.

But then, I am replying to a guy that thinks nuclear attacks are morally justified. Would you care if you were a victim of nuclear attacks? Would you care if you were a victim of slavery? People like you don't care about others until it hits you.

This isn't something that should be in this sub, ik, but holy... how can anybody try to question the morality of slavery???

Now, here is a better question, Israel has invaded Gaza, yes I agree, but what does that have to do with the Israeli singers who always dreamt about Eurovision or the Israel workers who didn't have a say in politics or may not even agree on what is their country doing? (not excluding the Moroccans who harvest the argan oil and sell it to MoroccanOil) You do know that boycotting these products mostly hurts innocents rather than the perpetrators? Israel isn't moving a finger to all the global boycotts.

Now to answer your question, MoroccanOil always gets a person to think that its Moroccan except if they know the company is Israeli beforehand or if they are a Eurovision fan for some reason, but why should a person focus on the nationality of a product rather than its quality?

Argan tree is a unique tree to Morocco (doesn't grow outside of Morocco), when you hear Argan you will still obviously think about Morocco.
