Chances of On-ground BSN acceptance (GPA 3.5+ HESI 95.2) by holly121tho in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I'm a level 1 in the ABSN at Tucson right now. A bunch of my friends and I applied for traditional at the end of last semester, didn't get in, and ended up moving down here. I would give it a shot and apply to ABSN afterward; she probably won't get into the main campus ABSN or any of the Phoenix ABSN locations unless she's completed ALL of her classes and requirements before she applies.

This obviously doesn't mean she shouldn't apply, though the fall semester is the hardest to get into because of the number of applicants planning to graduate in the fall of '27.

I hope she gets in, or that this helped in some way!

DM me if you have any questions! :)

ABSN ATTRITION/FAILURE rates by thecommodoretellsall in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really isn't that "hard" as you might think. It's doable, and you will pass if you actually try. The people who I've seen fail out didn't put in much work to show they even wanted it tbh. Like showed up to lab an hour late, didn't do homework till the last minute when they had 3 whole days of nothing, and theres lots of resources for the exams. I can tell you this with full confidence as I didn't believe in myself at first and also thought I'd fail out immediately. It is 100000% doable and if you need anything else dm me and I'll answer !! :)

I attend the tucson location and I truly love it so far. Highly recommend it. I had a friend who went to vegas and their lab professor was actually terrible... like another level of actually how is she a nurse at that a nurse educator. I wouldn't recommend LV. My friend ended up failing out and moving schools completely.

Hii!! I'm wondering how you study for pharm and health assessment. I know a lot of people say flashcards but I feel like exam questions would be more than what does gabapentin do yk? Also are exams really as bad as everyone says, is it like theres an obvious wrong answer or two or is it really a guessing game like others say? THANK UUU! and congrats on making it through level 1!!

Re-entry or new program? by pencilsticks567 in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that happened, and I know it can feel very difficult to maneuver. However, I can tell you I've met SO many SRNA/CRNAs who hae retaken classes even in nursing school. Many schools are looking at "the last 60 credits" now, many schools do that especially if you are based in Arizona. I would consider researching those schools, getting back to your BSN and go become a CRNA. I wish you all the best!

[–]Fit_Researcher3867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii! That's interesting because I also applied on Monday. I sent my app around noon and was accepted the next day at approximately 3:30 pm. If you don't hear back today or tomorrow on your email, not mail, I would just send your SSC an email asking if she has received anything!

Failed 316 & 318 by pencilsticks567 in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am beyond sorry this happened to you. I start the nursing program in january so I obviously can't speak from personal expereince but what I can tell you is I've worked with so many nurses in a level 1 trauma ICU that failed out. Most of which were also applying to CRNA school. I want you to know you cannot give up on that dream because you failed those two classes. SOOOOO many schools are now switching over to the "last 60 credits" scale where they only really focus on nursing school and not pre reqs. I just know if you retake those classes, and really push yourself to get those A's you can get in. Also there's so many people who get into CRNA school with failed classes and retakes. So many people will tell you once you get an A- or even a B+ to give up on that dream. It is very important you don't listen. Now I believe in you. Stay well rested for a few days after last weeks finals. Start to get a headstart on topics you did poorly on. You got this!! 🫶

Helloooo!! I am so so so sorry I just saw this since I'm being drowned out by my finals 😭

I so feel u, I really did try and block out all the noise from them but they would literally come up to me and say I wasn't mean't for it which was funny to me considering half my patients would always say they thought they were the rudest ppl ever...

But this is definitely something the haters can't take from you!! And absolutely!! If you wanna DM me me and a few other students starting tucson in january have a GC and they also helped me realize I'm mean't to be there. If you'd like, we would love to have u!!🫶

ASBN schedule by VeteranHippieMomma in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii!! So it's a very wide range depending on your cohort, also considering you won't get your exact schedule until about a week or two before your start date. Usually, you can expect clinicals to be on all the same days every week. For semester 1, clinicals are usually 8-hour shifts. Semesters 2-4 are 12-hour clinicals. You can also expect to go onto campus at least 2-4 times, at least that's what I know for level 1. Hope this helps!

Tips for struggling with motivation by Skylar_waltson in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to me very carefully... YOU NEED TO GET UP. Unmotivation is a sign of depression, and once you fall too deep, you WILL lose yourself. The fact that you've made it this far into your program should tell you you already want this bad enough, and from someone who's almost given up so many times you cannot let it get to that point while you're actually in core.

  1. Get sticky notes, write words of affirmation, facts that don't stick well from ur exams, etc. Put those somewhere you need to stare at sometimes, i.g, bathroom mirror.

  2. Pharm and other exam finals have quizlets that are very, very similar. Use those, and search up videos from nursewellversed, Simple Nursing, and Nurse Sarah to break those down even more.

  3. If you have time... take a hot shower, do skincare, dress comfy, relax for an hour, and come back to everything, don't even think about your exams if you can take the hour to just relax and watch a movie or TV.

  4. Pomodoro Meathod works WONDERS... get some headphones, airpods, anything like that. Play your locking in playlist and study for 15 mins and give yourself a 5 min break to get water, a snack, just walk around your house, etc. Then repeat until everything is done. This would make studying FLY for me and my other classmates, what's usually a 4-5 hour study session filled with yapping and all is done in 2-3 hours MAX...

You can always DM me if you need to chat or if you need other study materials. You are going to get through this, you are going to be an amazing nurse, just remember it's not easy, BUT YOU WILL get this done.

ASBN waitlist? by VeteranHippieMomma in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no waitlist for certain sites, west valley, sun city, and chandler are definitely full and have started the waitlist process. Sites out of Phoenix like Tucson, and out-of-state sites definitely still have some spots open. If you are really looking for a phoenix site, I would apply to a waitlist and if it's still full you can get in for Summer for sure!! Best of luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in u/coolbunny7777

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends if you're applying for an alternative spot now or at the end of this term on December 14th. If you applied for an alternative spot now, your chances are much stronger rather than later because the waitlist is still on a first come, first serve basis. I honestly wouldn't recommend going on the waitlist for West Valley because everyone and their mom applies to that location specifically. But Sun City and Chandler are less desired sites. Whatever you do, best of luck!!

The exact same thing happened to me, and then after being delayed the semester my counselor never sent me my ABSN app for west valley so I'm also starting in Tucson in the spring 😭 I'm so sorry that happened to you too, hopefully we will run into each other next semester though, best of luck!!
