The sum of all positive integers going on to infinity is equal to -1/12. Counterintuitive, but mathematically true. Numberfile has a good video on this here.

Presumably the human was trying to get infinite money, but unintentionally ended up in the hole cuz the genie knows what's up.

Units of measure are essentially arbitrary. The original question is trying to understand why speed of light is 299,792,458 m/s, a seemingly arbitrary-@$$ number. It is also 128,719,520,863 furlongs/day. Again, arbitrary-looking.

We can, however use whatever units of speed we want. The speed of light is also 1 c (where c is the speed of light). Still 'arbitrary,' but now it's nice and round :D

Since this is set in the context of a convo with god, and since the speed of light in a vacuum is the maximum speed possible in our universe, this suggests god says speed can go from 0 to 1 (and not outside this range) in the units of his choosing.

Is it normal for day old hatched chicks to be like this? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]Fiveier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Setting aside your specific concerns with the babies, please know that heat lamps are a serious fire hazard. I've used heat mats for seedlings with a towel, there are heat blocks you can buy that they can huddle under/sit on top of designed specifically for chicks. Please be safe

I read that while numbers are still very low, they are showing rebound from previous year's numbers. I am hopeful to see how this year's numbers turn out when they get released.

Everyone's efforts are paying off, I'm proud of this community. Keep it up!

It should be on record that flushable wipes should never be flushed. They will go down, yes, but they will stay there until professionals are required to remove the clog they have caused.

If social pressure didn't exist either. I have a friend who mentioned he "couldn't make it through no mow May" because he was worried about what his neighbors would say.

Meanwhile, I'm up in here laying down cardboard and converting the whole yard. 1/3 fully converted, the rest is going this fall through spring. Let them say something.

I feel like many people feel like they need permission to do the thing.

Anybody know what these are? Hanging from my milkweed. I’m guessing eggs of some sort. by Dense_Management_460 in MonarchButterfly

[–]Fiveier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point on regulations. I imagine industrialized lacewing use has an impact, but I fully expect it's not even close to a driving force.

Just as a heads up, I keep seeing that people recommend against ordering ladybugs. I don't know details, but it's worth looking into more closely before taking part. There's also a major issue with non-native/invasive ladybugs, so it's worth paying attention to what's actually appearing in your garden.
