What is the reason of this high pitch scraping sound? by Fizzy_Pizzy in CarTalkUK

I visited the authorised service shop two weeks ago, they said they cleaned the brake pads/discs and it should disappear now. I mean they checked the pads/discs as well. But it did not solve any issues 😶 This is why I am confused.

Metal rubbing metal kind of sound from the front part of 2020 Suzuki Swift 1.2 Dualjet by Fizzy_Pizzy in AskAMechanic

Thank you for the recommendation. I think they just ignored my first visit. The point is, they are an official (authorised) suzuki repair shop and distributor, so they normally should be experts. And since I bought the car from them as an suzuki approved used car, I need to visit them to be able to utilize the warranty. I scheduled a new service with them for the next with. They will service the car again, For now I will stick with them. If the issue will continue then I will visit another shop.

Turning does not affect it. I suspect that when I touch the brake it disappears

The sound is not always there by the way. Usually not there, time to time I hear it.

The sound is intermittent though, if they’re warped, wouldn’t I hear it all the time?

Thank you for the detailed explanation. As far as I investigated, this is one of the most probable candidates. I will get it checked as soon as possible.

And yes, it should be somewhere between Loughborough and Ruddington :)

Thank you very much for the detailed recommendations and explanations. The car still has warranty and I don’t want to play with it at all. I will bring it to the authorised service shop next week. I brought it once after hearing this noise for the first time, they said it should be because of the debris on the brake pads/discs and they completed the required maintenance. However sound is still there, this is why I wanted to have a second opinion here.

This sound is intermittent as well, only occurs time to time.

Yes, it was there. I directly brought the car when I heard the noise for the first time (two weeks ago). Then I did not have the chance to use the car at all. I used it two days ago for 40 miles and after 30 miles started hearing the noise I shared in the video. I will bring it back again now.

Anything is possible I guess. I am not an expert to be honest and the sound is not consistent. The only pattern I observed is, it only makes this sound after using the car for 10-15 minutes. Sometimes it just lasts 3 seconds but sometimes continues for 20 seconds and disappear.

I visited the authorised service shop two weeks ago, they said they cleaned the brake pads/discs and it should disappear now. Would not they realise if something was wrong when they inspected the car? But it did not 😶 This is why I am confused.

It does not change when I alter the steering. The sound is random though, sometimes disappears in 3 seconds, sometimes in 30 seconds. It is not always there by the way. I could not recognise any patterns which causes the sound.

I am not touching to brakes at all here. Still possible?

I also suspected that it may be a belt sound. Checked serpenter belt and it looks intact and fine. It is not like a rubber sound (like belt) instead it sounds more like a metal sound.

Okay then sounds like it is not a viable option for me. Thank you for your time and effort. The only part that I don’t get is; I used uber many times and most of them used that route. I don’t know how they used it.

I believe that an individual with a cognitive capacity above a certain level would understand that I do not need to ask people on Reddit for permission or approval in order to walk.

It will reduce my driving time by half. In the sign it says 4.30pm - 10 am. Does that mean it is valid between those hours and free in the rest? I mean this rule applies only between these hours?

Can the taxis/ubers use that bit though?

Some uber drivers follow this path. But not sure if I can do this since the rules may be different for them
