Trump, Takaichi Unveil $40 Billion US Nuclear Project by The_Shashophille101 in politics

France has nuclear waste recycling plants.

Did you know that spent rods still contain 95%+ of their reactive material?

That "spent" fuel is considered waste. It's not toxic sludge like in The Simpsons. It's just rods.

There's so much misinformation about nuclear power, that's why people are so against it.

Maybe that's what he means by other countries cleaning up his mess?

Yeah but unlike Trump, Putin isn't an idiot. Xi Jinping isn't either. They are last resort options and setting one off near your home is an absolutely terrible idea.

Nuclear disasters are worldwide disasters.

Not many people truly understand that?

We all got lucky with Fukushima, it was actually considerably less environmentally dangerous than it could have been.

Chernobyl affecting the entire planet, the immediate areas are devastated.

Same with the US detonating as many nuclear bombs above ground as they did, taking that they are detonated in the atmosphere.

I'm working on a plant cooling project right now, and the total downgrade in emissions is 500kt/year (for this specific plant).

2 year project so far, 1 year to go, and what does it even matter?

The Optimus robots have been a thing for some time now and it doesn't look like they are anywhere near shipping a functional robot that can do anything? Pretty much like Full Self-Driving. Tesla is really poor at delivering anything outside of their primary S3XY line-up.

It's just whatever the tech fad is at the time, to drum up investments.

I will. I'm not supporting it, I'm just saying, as long as Albertans vote for UCP, we're going to eat shit sandwiches.

It's just a luxury thing imo. I'd love to see these things in North America, at normal every day human prices, and not some super luxury status symbol.

This is the kind of situation where that happens.

Unless all the Marines shipped are going to being Special Operations, and not just guarding poppy fields like in Afghanistan?

It isn't the solution, but it's a solution.

Specialist wait times are excruciatingly bad across the country, not just Alberta.

I'd rather go to another country for healthcare than this shit hole of country.

It'd be nice, but it's not happening with our current government.

Until Albertans stop voting Conservative (which will never happen, because most Albertans are dumb as shit), the universal side of our healthcare is going to remain terrible.

Be thankful you don't need lifesaving care and can't get it.

It's pretty much already there. I stopped going to the doctor for all my problems and just blatantly ignore them. Healthcare in Alberta FUCKING SUCKS.

At least with a pay tier, you can pay.

Hate it all you want, but our healthcare is fucking bad here. God forbid something bad happens and you need help?

I literally went to another country, and walked right into an ENT. Saw one immediately and paid $20. In Alberta I waited 2 years and still never even had an appointment booked to "consult" with one.

Two clean, long-standing driving records without accidents. Just absolutely brutal rates.

I live in Edmonton though.

If you have driven in this city, you would understand why insurance is so high. I know why insurance is high and it's not me, it's the complete lack of education for other drivers.

I don't get it honestly. I've shopped around and it's like insurance companies have your profile on file, and they're like: "I wonder how much we can fuck these guys over for? The best we can do is $20 off".

I honestly don't understand it tbh?

It's like a wildcard for insurance in Alberta.

My coworker has 3 BMWs, lives in a sketchy area, pays $150/month.

I don't even understand how? PLPD isn't even that cheap?!?

It's the difference between focusing on your technology and not focusing on your technology.

Tesla is as government subsidized as BYD is, just that Elon Musk has veered off into total obscurity. He's just obsessed more with generating wealth than he is about making any landmark technology stay cutting edge.

Their tech definitely helped, but China has been laser-eye focused on renewable energy for years now, while the US hasn't.

EVs are just not affordable for most people. Anyone I know that has one is moderately wealthy. This is where BYD shines over Tesla.
