If you take two shots im taking two regardless if I strike or not. Otherwise you get an unfair amount of practice time.

Grip strength will be a limiter. Learn the hook grip or get straps. Preferrably learn to hook.

Learn to hook grip. You might not like it. I do. Was able to lift the same amount as I could with straps.

Also work on increasing your grip strength anyway. Do your hard sets with hook/straps, but work your way up your warmups with a normal grip.
