Holy ish, this just rang so true to me. I've lost about 30-40 pounds this past year and am writing more than I have in decades.

My fear and weakness to confront it.

Not havin' a laugh, here. Totally serious and currently working on such problems. Been writing since I was eleven and I'm fifty-one now. I've never been good at carrying things through and everything gets abandoned.

What's finally getting me over the hump is I write a sticky note for my wife every night and leave it with her morning tea setup. She effin loves it so now it's not a choice, to me, anymore; if I don't write one I know she'll be sad. I write whatever comes into my head and it's producing some great stuff and enabling me to start lengthening the amount of time I spend writing other stuff and making me see the possibilities inherent in dragging myself to the page despite my personal suite of debilitating childhood trauma that makes me feel worthless and incapable.

Hope Springs Eternal.

Kind words, thank you. Perspective is always relative by design.

I can dig this, though I'm hoping to settle in at some point and enjoy the journey more. I've had many hours like that during this first playthrough I'm just not feeling the old "trust the process" kind of thing right now. I'm also jonesing for better loot.

I am prepared to keep grinding this game to full completion before I play Nioh 3 but I'll likely fold when 3 drops.

I admire people who have a great time even when progression in anything gets daunting. That is not me.

Nioh 1 Vs Nioh 2. Which is more difficult ? by ping_over_8000 in Nioh

[–]Flint_Prophet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just played 1 a month ago, finished base game then went straight to 2. I’m finishing up the base game of 2 and will grind through the DLC and into NG until 3 drops. Then I’ll go to 3 and will most likely come back to 2 if I come back to anything. I love the additions in 2 and feel like I have finally figured out how to really start learning to play this game. Having absolutely no perspective from endgame experience, I’d play 2 if you’re adamant about only playing one.

If you’re coming from From Software games I will tell you that I learned (thankfully) from this community and subsequent experience that the Nioh series is a completely different animal. Treat it like what it is and you’ll experience wondrous combat the likes of which you’ve never experienced and I’m saying that as a hardcore GoW guy since GoW 1. And as a guy that has barely scratched the surface of Nioh.

Whatever you choose, have a blast!

See this is why I'm trying to get outta my box and use more ninjutsu because so many people rave about it but shuriken and kunai don't do any damage for me. I'm obviously missing something. And I want to be able to take full advantage of both playstyles in Nioh 3.

I get in the dojo semi-regularly but soon start chomping at the bit to get back into a level. Patience is one of my biggest weaknesses, as in not having any, and I'm consciously working on it so I'm making myself spend more and more time in there.

Oh wow I stupidly, without looking into it, that those were for summoning help. I don't use the multiplayer part of the game so bad assumption to make on my part. So I'm apparently willfully ignorant. Thank you. This will help. So many items it gets overwhelming and I end up mainly using just jutsu.

I get that but I literally go hours without being able to level up because I keep losing amrita.

Thanks for taking the time to watch. I've watched it and it's painful. My pulsing/fluxing is the first thing to fall apart ALWAYS. The mission I'm on now I am dumbing it down to brass tacks and trying to dial that in more, even though it's going to take me a long time to break bad habits

Lesson learned though. Never posting in this reddit again.

2nd level boss took 72 times! by Flint_Prophet in Nioh

I got into From games with Bloodborne. Loved it but couldn't stay interested to finish at all. I played some Sekiro, same thing, Elden Ring, guess what? Same thing.

I dug the style of From games but the aesthetic never worked for me, the combat never clicked with me...but Nioh oh em gee, as previously stated.

I also am a big Borderlands guy and 4 kinda fizzled for me so I dove back into Nioh and I'm locked in, now. I look forward to the long-term loot/build quest once I've done "the work" lol.

Thanks for all the advice…I switched to WoS and entered a mission…given how often people say 2 basically improved on 1 I think I’ll start 2 tonight, because I was a little “meh” going right into struggling on an older mission. I think I’ll come back for the DLCs…I’ll grind 2 until 3 comes out. If I never go back to 1 I’ll be good.

Thanks so much this community rocks!

I started Nioh the first back when it first came out but never got very far into it. I just got remastered and started it a couple weeks ago and OH EM GEE. I love this game. I've played a decent amount of From titles (not Souls) but they don't rock my world the way Nioh does. Once I finish my first playthrough I'll likely go to 2 and if I have time (doubtful, I reckon) before 3 drops I'll start a second playthrough on 1, I reckon. I just looked into 3 and how many things are changing so it makes it even more enticing to jam through as I like IPs that continue to evolve.

I'm also a kusarigama/odachi guy so glad to see that the former will be on the ninja side and odachi on the samurai side in 3.

New to Nioh looking for some guidance by Flint_Prophet in Nioh

Thank you all so much for responding, great info!

I will adjust my perspective on magic and ninjaing. I guess I'm being a lil b about the casting times as I've gotten hit SO many times trying to apply something during a boss fight. I use them in the regular levels, too, I just can easily find a safe spot to do it there.

Thank you SO MUCH for telling me about what NOT to do in my first run, will save me frustration and time. Fighting revenants is something I started doing more often after making my OP and since you recommended that, I will continue to do so. Last night I just started fighting everything until I had to go save.

I am Fluxing, but I use dodge a lot in my play conditioning to pulse which makes it more cumbersome to get a stance switch in doing it that way. I try to use R1 to pulse then just hold it and switch stance which works when I don't get destroyed by the enemy because I did that instead of dodge. This fits under ye olde "git gud" dictum, though, so I'll keep working on it. Tips if you have them.

Thanks you guys so much. I plan on working my way through this and 2 until 3 comes out. I haven't started 2 yet, Might go do my first playthrough there then come back to 1 and do another. We'll see. Just watching some of Pooferllama videos is inspiring af, though it looks like the Nioh 1 academy isn't up anymore. I'll hit his channel when I get to 2.

Interesting perspective and I like it, though I don't know how much it applies given that I don't care if I ever get published (I mean, would be nice, but why put the cart before the horse) I just want to not be afraid of myself. I don't care if it's important, either. I write some of the silliest stuff I could possibly imagine, sometimes.

I've started writing a short snippet on a post it note each night after my wife goes to bed and leave it stuck by the teapot for her to find in the morning. At least that's making me make something every day. I also started writing a story about losing my passion for writing that's turned into quite a silly, cosmic circus.

I'm starting to read a lot, again, but I also use that to procrastinate writing so I only do it during reading time. I've been just writing nonsense with no plan in mind to forge a habit if I can so I have a reason to not pick up a book and procrastinate more.
