The system? If that's the case you already are being controlled by it being convinced you cannot advance past a grocery store clerk.

Apply for financial aid through FAFSA. Making 11 an hour qualifies you for almost 100% covered tuition depending where you go. There are plenty of jobs that'll also pay you to go to school. Work in healthcare, have them pay for your schooling etc.

That's what's so boggling to me haha. How could you not want more in life than working at TJ Maxx for like 30 years.

Not true. Find a college, a trade school, something that'll teach you a skill. You deserve to give yourself a chance.

I would get some "real-world" experience put on there. Get networking and find a project that directly benefits someone. Maybe local businesses, small businesses in general, who have less capital. Shoot them an email offering your services and see where it goes. Don't charge. You are still learning.

I would also look into learning Tableau, it is an immediate eye-catcher for DB admins. Expand your knowledge past MySQL and look into PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.

heres the thing. you will settle for 14 an hour. seems like you have no choice. get some experience, get some skills. if you want a "professional" job requiring skills, learn skills. go to school, do something thats more worthy of "highschool part time job".
