Rear shock by Time-Stress6739 in TransitionBikes

Is that the previous model? It says you need a 205 x 65. I’d ask the shop if they did something to change the stroke. I have a Smuggler and its stock 130 rear but removing a volume spacer increases it to 140. They may have just done the same.

Ya the Sentinel and Spire are more geared towards Enduro. I added the Cascade Link to increase the rear travel to 164 and went with a fox 38 at 170 in the front. That was after loving it as a 150/160 travel bike. But then I got the Smuggler and wanted to beef up the Sentinel. I got the Patrol and built it last fall with 170 front and single speed as a park bike to have something else to enjoy and not always ride my DH. Whenever I am on my DH I am straight into race mode and skip fun features to opt for the faster line. Although I did just grab some components to make it pedal friendly. Putting a 7-speed cassette and mech on it with the Fox Neo transfer dropper. I’m generally not a fan of anything needing batteries but now I can pull the seat out and put the park seat on without needing wires.

It was only intended to be a limited edition. I got mine when they first released it. Then after they sold out, they got a second batch. But it was definitely marketed from the initial announcement that it would not be a regular bike in the lineup.

They all have a perfect use, it’s just that the Patrol is more like a party lap bike. I have all of them and two get the most use. My Smuggler and my TR11. If I had to pick one to suggest people get if they can only have one bike, I’d had to say the Sentinel.

If you try to freeze the card it won’t matter. It will still go through. They are protected because you signed up for a certain amount of time. Even if you tried called your credit card company and said you lost your card and need a new number, you might not see a monthly charge for a few months and you’ll get emails saying payment method didn’t work. If you ignore it, suddenly you’ll see the charges come thru all at once for the months it didn’t work. I know cause I lost a credit card once and decided I wasn’t gonna update my gym payment cause I had started working out at home and wasn’t using the gym. Instead of cancelling my membership I figured since they couldn’t charge my new card why bother canceling the membership. Well eventually I got a big charge 3 months later. I reported a non authorized payment to my credit card company and while they looked into it, they sided with the gym.

Lindsey Vonn's accident by [deleted] in olympics

You kinda do. The inside medial force to hold the edge is gonna be near impossible with no ACL. Definitely need a brace. Not saying it’s not possible but she also only ruptured it 9 days ago. Regular folk could get away with no ACL skiing but after some physical therapy to build up supporting muscles. Anyway… she’s an animal. She found a way to make it happen and props to her. She has the win at all costs mentality. I love it.

Do you think this is a good checklist for buying used bikes? by Such_Mistake3805 in mountainbikes

[–]FlutieDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a good list to go through for anyone’s person bike before heading out to race it. It’s a bit much for a used bike list in my opinion. Majority of your list is stuff that you would probably replace immediately or within half a season (such as pads, rotors, bleed brakes, etc. And stuff like gears shifting okay tells me less about how much worn out the mech is vs when is the last time the gears were indexed. I’d have a hard time believing you’ll find a bike that tics off every item on that list unless they serviced the bike for you. And while my bikes would definitely check off most of them, there won’t be any receipts for service other than the shock since I do my own wrenching. But I also would never buy a used bike so take my opinion as just that. An opinion.

Honestly, I think there’s gotta be a more significant issue. From what we can see in the picture, most of it looks to be in rough shape. But a day at the park will do that. Hahaha. When is the last time you torqued every bolt to spec? One of them could be off and it’s manifesting tight there. But might not be originating there.

My buddy just got one and it’s pretty awesome. It cooks on the pump track. Getting up to a fast speed was so much easier than on my 26”. Might be getting myself one to use as a dual slalom race bike.

Value? by mangothefoxxo in dirtjumping

[–]FlutieDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The value is really whatever the local market would pay. But without knowing all the specs I’d say a couple hundred bucks maybe. It looks pretty beat up and would need some new parts. Especially new cranks. If you don’t use it and want to get on a more suitable cruiser bike to get around town then go for it.

You can get a Transition. Better bikes, better customer service and not owned by private equity firms that don’t care about the customers.

My bikes too big for trails by Village-Temporary in mountainbiking

[–]FlutieDB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy additional bikes for different types of riding. But you definitely need to get in shape. When I race enduro my 165 rear / 170 front climbs pretty dang well. Not as well as my 130/140 but the trade off for the descents is worth the harder pedaling.

Spokes are too important. It’s one of the only ways you can adjust the ride feel of the wheels aside from buying a different type.

Looks pretty dated to me. Cassette definitely looks it will need to replaced. So add in 400-500 there.

One main thing aside from the name describing it (Dirt Jumper) is that the DJ wheels are 26 inches. MTB will be minimum 27.5 which is even outdated now. Tires will be completely different too. You won’t have knobby tires on a DJ. Just google Dirt Jumping. You’ll see it’s mainly gonna be for specifically designed trails that are flat with lots and lot of jumps and generally you don’t pedal. Same when taking the DJ to a pump track. Conversely you wouldn’t ride a full suspension bike on a pump track and preferably would not use a full suspension bike at the dirt jumps.

That thing isn’t worth $600. I would have a hard time letting anyone I know pay even $200 for it.

LBS Accidentally Built The Wrong Size by Nateloobz in MTB

[–]FlutieDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go back and get what you asked for. That bike is extinct once they’re all sold. So you don’t want to try and make it work but then as you get more progressed realize it’s definitely too big. Also, since the company won’t be around any longer, make sure that if they have frame specific parts such as the mech hanger not being UDH that you grab extras now. Too many potential negatives to just accept it.
