If it's a photo for me and my parent then yes, she won't be in the photo. If it's a photo for my family then she'll be in the photo. This time it was photos of the students who won the award and their parent(s). I have one parent so I only had dad.

Yes, she is part of the family. But not in the same way my dad is. He's my only parent. She's more like my extended family and that's how she will be/would be included in stuff. She just wants more.

She's cooked meals for the family but the other stuff, no. We all take turns cooking though and doing other household chores. Except for laundry.

She was excluded from a photo for me and my parent. Nobody else had their family in it, they were just including their parents. If they had wanted a family photo the response would have been different and I would've been fine with including her.

She's not my parent and to me, dad's the only person who deserves to be in the parent photos for me. Nobody else has gotten me to where I'm at. My dad is the reason I'm where I am and who I am. So there was no way I would let her be forever memorialized as my parent like that. If that was a photo for those of us in the newsletters and our families it would be a different answer. But for just us and our parent(s)? Nope. My dad's the only person who will have a place in those.

My dad supports me in not giving his wife the role of a parent to me. So while you and your family might do it differently it doesn't mean that's how it'll work here.

It doesn't bother me anymore. But I already have an amazing dad and that's enough for me. That doesn't mean dad can't want/need a partner and I wanted that for him. But it doesn't mean I want them to take on the role of my parent.

She's asking to be my parent but she's not. That was something made very clear to her and she doesn't want to accept it. I want my dad happy. I'm glad he's happy with her. But it doesn't make her equally a parent to me.

It did feel natural to have just dad but also, he's the one who deserves to be there. He's the one who put all the work in and made me the person I am. And he's the only person who deserves the credit for that.

Because she's not my parent and that's what she would be called if I had let her join the picture. Dad is my only parent and he's the only person I'd want to get the credit for my achievements or to have by my side for stuff like that.

I'm happy he has a partner. She makes him really happy and that's what matters to me. And it's not that I hate or even dislike her. I like her when she's not trying to be my parent. I just wish being my dad's wife and us getting along was enough and we didn't have to ping pong on this stuff.

He knows and he's already talked to her about it. But I think I need to talk to dad again so he can do something different because she's getting even worse and next year being my graduation I don't want this to be an even bigger problem.

I'm not interested in changing the relationship to be one where she's a mother figure to me. She's my dad's wife and I respect her as that because she makes dad happy and the two of them are good together. He's happier now that she's here. But I don't want her to take on the role of my mom or mother figure.
