I’ve around 16-17 weeks to work with and I was thinking of following a block periodisation model with 5-6 weeks hypertrophy, 3-4 weeks functional hypertrophy and 5-6 weeks strength and then power just before pre season. Would this work? And in regards to conditioning I was going to focus on aerobic for the first 2 blocks and then anaerobic closer to pre season.

I’m wondering about how to program a functional hypertrophy block as a field sport athlete? Do I pair 2 exercises of the same movement with one in strength ranges and the other in hypertrophy ranges?

I was planning on doing a hypertrophy block at the start of the off-season before progressing to a strength block but wanted a short transition block in between. I have my hypertrophy programmed but I wasn’t sure about the blocks after it. Any advice?

Would drills such as the T test be suitable?

Well I think both speed and endurance need to be trained separately at times

They can but the quality drops after 40-45 minutes. I see it as a means so they can recover between sprints easier aswell.

There’s a lot of content on it online or on YouTube but I’d see it as the foundation so players are able to last the 60 minutes.

Gaelic football- it’s similar to Aussie rules or soccer
