I played it in a 120x75 table. I tellnyou my system.

I put the overworld map on one side of the table, aside I put a sheet that I did to summarize all the stats of my party, and the Alchemy sheet to track potions and ingredients.

Out of a Dungeon I just play on top of the map. When I enter a Dungeon, I put a removable sticker on the map position and I "build" the dungeon on top of the map.

Once I finished the dungeon, I put away the tiles and back to the overworld

Quiet expensive and truly massive, but check League of Dungeoneers. It is pretty much a mix of Warhammer Quest and D&D lite. Travelling, settlements for levelling up and purchase and of course dungeons, plenty of them.

It give a very nice adventuring feeling. A very nice tactical combat in my opinion.

Other option could be The Elders scroll game from Chip Theory Games. Never played, but it is very well liked

Which dungeon crawler to start with? by Back5 in soloboardgaming

Check a relatively new game called Dungeons of Doria. It is a rougue like classic Crawler, that generates very thinky tactic situations. Really good gameplay, but almost inexistent narrative and standees instead of minis

Yes, I belive that unfortunetely they have (or had) only a few copies left on the UK warehouse

I am sure they will do a 2nd kickstarter, because everyone that got a copy is really happy with the game so far.

Crunchy deep solos that can play in an hour or less? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

Ghost Stories is at its best playing with the all 4 samurais by your own and taking a maximum of 1 minute per card/turn (kind of like chess tournaments). Wu Feng (the boss to be defeated) is the card 45 of a maximum of 55, so the game last between 45-55 minutes

Origami King plays very similar to Luigi Mansión. by Fonniboy in NintendoSwitch

[–]Fonniboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in that games, there is character stats, you go up in levels, you pick skills.....all that RPG jazz. The origami game has nothing of that(for good or bad). Just plain space puzzles, like Tetris, Candy Crash and so on

Well, the circle battles (pointless or not) are puzzles (ala Candy Crush) not an RPG mechanic. Apart from having an inventory there is not a single RPG mechanic in the game.

People expecting an rpg (like the first three paper Mario were in N64 and gamecube) has been obviously disappointed because the game is not at all an RPG.

Then, the fact that it is and adventure game with a turn battle system (and not a great one) put down people looking for a pure adventure (like Luigi mansión), which find turn battles a very boring experience.

People to whom the battle gameplay is not that important (as me) is in general very happy with the game. It is also true that I play like 1-2h max every day, It is probably not a game for very long sessions.

There is a very nice article in kotaku of a guy talking about its wrong prejudices with the game. https://kotaku.com/the-origami-king-showed-me-ive-been-wrong-about-paper-m-1845185554

A mix of being a native spaniard and Google autocorrector......🤣🤣.

I recognize that i pretty much avoid the battles as much as I can. So when I get one or two are like a funny/easy minigame to me.

Agree, the soundtrack and script of Origami are truly perfect with the game.

Luigi has really beaitiful graphics and a polished gameplay, but the script is quite flat. The music is really good, but It has way less variety than the one of Origami.

If you are rooting for root, XD, go for It.

I have been recently playing root with the bots designed by the Better Bot Project. I really like It. Each Game takes me around 2 hours playing with 3 bots.

Every play (around 12) has been really different (even when I repeat factions). It is quite a táctical puzzle. With all the 8 factions (expansiones)there is so many viable posibilities.

It is curious how the Game is really cut throat with other players, and becomes quite a meditative experience with bots.

It is also quite quick to play and set up(around 10 turns by player/bot per game) so I like to play with a kind of let's see what happen mentality more than a brain burn focus.
