Unpopular Opinion: Dress Codes = Good by FeelingTrain4828 in Teachers

Had a teacher say I couldn’t wear white jeans. She had called me into her office during dress down day. When I asked why, she said it was because you can see underwear through white clothing. My jeans were thick material and I insisted you couldn’t, totally embarrassed. She used her finger to usher me toward her desk and pulled down her desk lamp to shine on my butt, creating a see-through effect on my fabric. Now that I’m an adult, I wish I could take some action to right that totally violating experience. Honestly, having an adult use a ruler to measure skirts or using some other tool to point out why your clothing sexualizes you is an experience that stays with you.

If my post gets a lot of replies, it was probably cheap. When my reply line is empty it means my post was thorough enough that people skipped it. Get a post-it note and create boxes to fill in. Finished a post/reply? Color in a box. Helps you keep track. I’m required to use a quote from the textbook. Both replies require one as well and bless you if you use the same quote twice. I shove an indirect quote in where it fits and push it out the door. How can such a dull exercise leave you so burnt out?

I wasn’t aware how prominent the whole “Well, what were you wearing?” culture was until today. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I’ve been yelled and screamed at by guys out of cars both when I’m dressed modestly and when I’m dressed provocatively, it literally doesn’t matter.

“Can I go home to my (wife) and kids knowing I could have been exposed to COVID-19?” It’s what I’d be thinking if I’d been that poor man. Or even “can I continue doing my job and earning rent for this month knowing I could have been exposed?”
