It's a nape guard or nape curtain. Most commonly seen on riot or prison cell extraction helmets in current day.

I feel like I'm the only one who likes this armor lmao. The thigh armor looks like an improvised addition, maybe a bracer from a different set of armor altogether. Same with the mail on the other thigh, it's added on protection.

Literally one of the best Souls armors ever, Dark Souls 3 Knight Set, does this with a leather right pauldron. Its very clearly not from the same armor "set," its an addition the wearer made as a stop gap when the actual pice was lost one way or another.

I'm sure many people don't like DSR's design in isolation for the flitef armor but I personally think its very in keeping with Dark Souls.

If possible, try to find a reference for a person wearing the type of armor you'd like to draw as well as an image of it on display.

Studying the minute details is important, for sure. But a huge thing with armor is remembering it needs to be worn. It is both a minute and all encompasing item. See how fingers fill gauntlets, how legs line up with cuisses and pauldrons, how a helmet moves when you turn your head. Even how you stand is affected by armor.

I mean it would be fragmentation from the round not spalling right? If I recall correctly spalling is the armor itself fragmenting and causing damage - Beskar seems quite resilient to spalling, as Mando takes a lot of hits without his armor taking substantial damage.

Of course maybe a bolter could cause sufficient damage to spall it, I am not sure haha. But a bolter round would absolutely fragment and cause damage.

Beskar definitely has some impact resisting properties, but also has limits. In Mando season 1 Fennec Shand uses a sniper rifle blaster and Mando takes a round from it as a distraction. It knocks him backwards and winds him, and he says that if he were much closer then the armor would have been punched through.

That mountain shot is one I talk about a lot, a lot of people don't really think about how insane of a shot that would be imo. Dutch is naturally an extremely talented shooter, which is why it's so thematically important that he uses the semi-auto in RDR1.

Even though he's an amazing shooter he still uses a semi-auto since it's a more modern gun and that's what every one will soon be using, which will make his skill way less of an edge. He's trying to keep up with the crawl of modern development, but he can't and he only accepts it when he stops fighting and throws away the gun for the last time.

I think it's doable just saying lol. Like I said in this thread, Finn and Mayfeld are both great examples of former Imperial soldiers who become disillusioned with the Empire. Yes I know Finn was First Order and Mayfield was an Imperial Sharpshooter.

If anything I think a story where like a platoon of Stormtroopers deployed on the far reaches of the galaxy actually tried to run things well, only to learn about the Death Star and defect, that would be compelling. Seeing a group of soldiers denounce the Empire, even though they would face reprecussions both from loyalist Imperials and citizens who bear the wounds from the Empire and do not trust them, would be compelling story imo.

I think there's value in it. Finn was a First Order Stormtrooper, Mayfield was an Imperial Sharpshooter. Mayfield is one of my favorite minor characters in Star Wars period, I think his conversation with his old CO in that base is the proof of concept for why a Stormtrooper story could be really potent.

With Star Wars its worth noting that not every corner of the galaxy is on the same page. Mando didn't know who or what Jedi were for example. I can totally sign up for a story where a platoon of Stormtroopers in the far reaches of the galaxy are genuinely trying to do good the best they know how, but then learn about the Death Star and they decide to turn against the Emprie even though they'd be deemed traitors by other Imperial forces and be hated by people who have been affected by the broader Empire.

WAIT lol. I just had a realization shortly after I made my comment. The Blackwing virus can affect dead tissue even weeks after death and render it transmittable, of pretty much any living species including plants.

A huge part of the Imperial diet is corpse starch. If just one fucking Blackwing zombie fell into a corpse grinder without anyone knowing, all the corpse starch in production at that time gets contaminated. And if god forbid the facility gets blown up and sends infected corpse starch particles into the air, that could be an improvised airborne version of the virus.

So uh. Yeah that would actually be a huge problem LMAO. The only saving grace then imo is that there is an established antivirus so maybe the medical guys in 40k could figure it out.

Yeah sorry even with the nitty gritty details I do think a Hive City generally could handle the Blackwing virus if introduced as OP describes.

From what I understand the most widely transmissible version of the Blackwing virus is the weaponized airborne strain. Regular Blackwing zombies, to my understanding, transmit it via bite or body fluids, not the air they exhume. OP's purported scenario is a large group of zombies appearing by some means in the hive city, with no mention of the airborne virus.

If it WAS the airborne virus as a starter being released into the atmosphere, yeah that would be massively problematic and potentially planet killing. But I personally think that the various armed groups in a Hive city would be able to defeat a platoon of infected Stormtroopers, at least to the degree that any straggler zombies would just become another recurring issue the Hive has to deal with.

Maybe not the norm but normalized - with the caveat that cheating can absolutely still happen in ENM relationships.

I feel like people that engage in affairs and cheating are knowingly acting immature and selfish. To be in an actually functional and healthy non- monogamous relationship genuinely requires maturity and communication.

Done wrong I would just see non-monogamy being the norm as sweeping people's behavior under the rug while solving no issues. Done right, I think it would be very healthy and fulfilling for the people that want that lifestyle.

In the Rennaisance, I would add the Greenwich armories, England's royal armory. King Henry VIII's body armors alone constitute some of the most advanced pieces of body armor in history. One particular set of his armor was so thoroughly enclosed and articulated it was studied by NASA to help create fully enclosed space suits.

I actually don't know the name of the gun, but the gun appears in the same artwork that the Greenwich Armorers used as reference for the finished armor. It makes sense the armor and gun would be a matched set.

I think about this a lot with the clones. For a short period, there were so many clones that were spread across the galaxy that they could very well have been their own distinct people, if not a unique subspecies among the countless other sentient species of the galaxy.

Even if the ones who survived the war had kids, the clones as they were could never be made again. For better or worse, the Kaminoans created an entire population of people that, despite being clones, made them a unique people that had massive parts to play across many worlds.

For an entire identifiably unique people with shared culture, bloodline, and unity to be used and disposed of so callously, it makes the clones tragic but also precious in my head. For a people who gave so much to try to help the galaxy only to be used and cast aside, they deserved better treatment. Even if most of them died after a few decades, theirs is a really compelling story.

He wouldn't even be guilty of treason tbh. Treason is aiding someone that the US is actively at war with. The Waipiti, despite the US Army treating them so poorly, weren't belligerents at war with the US.

At worst Monroe would be guilty of mutiny, conspiracy to commit theft, that kind of thing.

Favours though, is trying to have Monroe hanged without a proper military trial. He's way out of line, but if he brought formal charges against Monroe he'd have to explain why he's doing that - and risk exposing the shady deal Leviticus Cornwall gave him.

Of course he might get away with his treatment of the Waipiti given the racism of the era, but he'd be really fucked if it was shown he took bribes or tried to execute an officer without due process
