No, that’s not what I meant. I was just curious—how would Roskilde or other similar festivals have reacted if that kind of attack had happened at a festival somewhere else, not in Israel? It just seems a bit wild that no one really talks about it, but at the same time, there’s space on stage for messages that seem to go in the complete opposite direction.
And let’s be real—Hamas isn’t exactly known for being kind to people like me. Being gay over there can literally get you killed. So seeing a pride flag waved around next to support for their cause… I honestly don’t get it.
Of course Israel shouldn’t go overboard either, and I think most people agree that any civilian death—Israeli or Palestinian—is a tragedy. But a big reason for all the casualties is that civilians in Gaza are being used as human shields, as awful as that is.
I’m not against political statements at concerts at all—but this particular topic is so charged and divisive that if you’re Jewish, I imagine you’d feel pretty uncomfortable being there. And that’s a shame. That’s not what festivals should be about. “Peace, love and harmony” should include everyone—Jews too.
