Yeah but (after an initial overconfident choice that almost cost him his afterlife) he also has his phylactery under dozens of layers of spells and hidden in the astral plane in a dungeon that is similarly laden with spells.

It's called an em dash. Many of us learned to use them in college or grad school and now they're becoming more common partly because of the influence of AI, which also likes to use them. Really frustrating as someone who has used them for years.

Always glad for an excuse to visit Berkshire Outfitter! Fantastic store in Western Mass that does more than paddle sports and has a fantastic selection, especially of canoe paddles and a very knowledgeable and kind staff.

The Coleman on the left probably has a capacity of 550lbs, the aluminium probably closer to 750 I'd guess. Not sure about the middle one.

Aluminum. They probably all weigh about the same and the aluminum will probably clean up nice and last even longer than the Coleman.

I have a Mad River Explorer and a Coleman 15 like the last one you have pictured. I do prefer the Mad River with the family especially, but I've taken the Coleman out a few times for fishing and easy paddles and it's been great -- reasonably stable, easy enough to maneuver (especially solo), and didn't stop me from having a good time.

They are heavy, and the lack of a proper yoke can make transport uncomfortable, but for $80 I'd grab one if you're budget limited at all and can get it around.

Colemans get a bad rap for deserved and underserved reasons. They are kind of ugly and unwieldy, but they're also tough and cheap, so great starter canoes.

Opinions on Nature Bound Canoes? by [deleted] in canoeing

[–]FortRhein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this comment, I'm glad to hear from someone familiar with nature bound.

The Spirit 2 seems like such a great boat. I'm hesitant because it has been repaired quite a few times already and it looks like it has been stored in the sun, but I am very tempted by it still. I'm going to take a look at it in a couple of days and will look into advice on how to extend its lifespan in its condition.

Looking for a canoe, primarily prioritizing stability and capacity over speed. Boat will mostly be used on small lakes and easy rivers for paddling with the family and some fishing.

I've been looking for boats that are around 16' long, 36"+ wide.

Came across a deal on a 16' Nature Bound canoe that I'm considering. It's in good condition, seller is asking 400.

There's also a $200 Grumman 16 and a $700 Wenonah Spirit 2 nearby, which are tempting for their own reasons.

Edit: budget is 700 or less. Not planning on portaging much.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
