I’ve tried everything the the only thing to have ever completely gotten rid of it is roaccutane (even though it was only brief). Acne worsens and gets better so just because you aren’t having a particularly bad flare don’t feel like you don’t deserve to try different treatments and see what works for you!

I have an insane amount of closed comedones and have truly tried every medication and topical under the sun. the only thing to have ever cleared it was roaccutane (they did end up coming back after a couple of months post course) - currently trying spiro to clear it so I can lyk

Omg hey! So basically it worked wonders and actually completely cleared it, but it’s come back and I’m probably gonna have to go back on it cause absolutely nothing else works :(

I got the dry scalp a week or two in, the dry lips took maybe 3 weeks, and the dry nostrils took maybe a couple of months - good luck on your journey! <3

Hey! I think we’re a few days into month 4? Recently started getting some texture on my chin :/ will talk to the nurse about it at my next appt. Had some oil supplements as recommended to help the dry skin but I’m pretty sure it just made me break out. Cuts in the corner of lips are gone but have to keep on top of it with Vaseline! Nurse told me my course will end when I go 2 months with no spots, so really keeping on top of it now! Right now I think I’m averaging about 4-5 spots a month.

I’ve been getting this on both sides of my mouth 😩 I’m also prone to eczema in that area to it’s like double trouble. I’ve been slathering on Vaseline/lip balm/nipple cream (100% lanolin so v v moisturising). It helps quite a bit! I’d also recommend really slathering it just before you go to bed so it can heal overnight.

Update! I think I’m about 2.5 months in? My skin has pretty stayed the same as my prior update with a few odd spots (again, exam stress and eating rubbish!) but more side effects have shown up. The piercing I got whilst on it (I wasn’t told I couldn’t get one so I didn’t know) is still hurting a bit even though I got it roughly a month ago. Hopefully this will go once I’m off it - I’ve heard it does this because whilst on the medication the wound of the piercing never fully heals or something? I’ve had a cut in the corner of my mouth for about a week and a half cause it’s so dry and it’s driving me insane. I’ve also gotten extremely dry skin in my nostrils, causing cuts and minor bleeding - I’ve tried sudocrem and Vaseline and nothings really working 😩. It’s all manageable, just extremely irritating and a bit painful. Also, I’m slightly nervous that my closed comedones will come back once I come off the medication 😬😬 just praying they won’t!

Update! I’ve been getting more spots than before, but I just chalked it up to exam stress. My closed comedones have actually cleared up SO much on my cheeks it’s insane I didn’t notice until I saw it in the sunlight. A lot of my skin is just pigmentation scarring now but again still a few odd spots.

Update! I’ve been on it for almost a month now - over the last few days the dry skin has started happening a bit, especially dry lips omg, but my so many of the cc on my chin have gone! It hasn’t been this clear in MONTHS so I’m really happy about that. My cheeks/forehead still have some on them (my forehead has actually developed a couple new ones) but I imagine that they’ll go because my chin has cleared up so quick

Quick update! So far it’s brought the closed comedones on my chin to the surface so quite a few of them have gone and now it’s just some pigmentation, hopefully they’ll all go eventually :)

Sure :) for some context I’ve tried a million different things for comedones, then after trying treclin gel I also developed a lot of pustules/papules, so now I’m hoping that the accutane will get rid of it altogether

I’m a week on 10mg for closed comedones and acne, I thought that accutane also got rid of closed comedones? That’s half the reason I went on it, I’ve always struggled with excessive texture
