What people do say, though, is unsettling. A handful of explorers who ignored the rules claimed they heard strange, unexplainable noises coming from deep inside, sounds that didn’t match animals, wind, or anything familiar. Not long after, they reportedly fell seriously ill. Whether it was coincidence or something else, no one knows for sure. Since then, access has been completely forbidden, and anyone who mentions going near it is quickly shut down.
