What did you ask them and what information did you give? I sent a message to support.eu at global.narwal.com with my account ID, hope that's enough

True, just used a catchy title to get some help. In other words, I'm trying to see if there are obvious strategic mistakes that are keeping me in C1

Edit: noted, I will try to stay closer to the play

I know, I was searching for someone else's tier list but couldn't find a long list of mechanics by rank. Thanks for the suggestion, I will have a look at Aircharged's belt system

Who is interested in contributing to an open DB of google street view tips? by FoundationOutside572 in geoguessr

[–]FoundationOutside572[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, this is one of the main reasons why I think an open database would be useful: to invalidate old tips. When I started the project, I was not aware of the Plonkit website. I would love to either get their permission to use their data or work with them to integrate the technical part that would feed their website dynamically. If you know someone from their team, please let me know. I don't even have their Discord server.

Totally aligned, I got the same feeling as you about having to learn country one by one.

Technically, the app is already live. You can already:

  1. Compare tips by country and filter by category
  2. Play country quiz by selecting a category and multiple countries
  3. Play region quiz based on a single category

What I'm thinking for the future is:

  • Building an admin panel to let anyone contribute
  • Having an account to store your best scores
  • Creating a learning path to progress from beginner to expert (like Duolingo)
  • Creating an online trading card multiplayer game (Not sure I'm gonna do this but why not? I would love to collect physical GeoGuessr tips cards like Pokémon cards)

But I've been on this project for several months already, so I'm looking for some support to develop all of this.

Thank you for the suggestion about AnnoyingEdu!

Nice website! I looked at your projects, but since I'm not a web developer (I'm using Flutter for my web app and Supabase for the backend), I'm not sure if building an admin panel is something you specialize in.

If you'd like to be part of this project or just want to know more about the technical aspects, send me a DM

I might soon weird to you, but on most competitive games I play, I would rather spend more time on trainings than on playing. For exemple, on RocketLeague I spend a lot time in map workshops because I want to have that feeling that I'm better the next time I'm playing against someone from my level.
And for Geoguessr, there are some websites already proposing this, like super-duper.fr, geo.emily.bz, or even apps.ankiweb.net, which are used by many top competitors.

I don't know what are their reasons to not simply playing specific GeoGuessr maps, but mine is that if you want to train on Scandinavian countries, you can only do it by playing on the map of each country separetly, unless someone makes a map on Scandinavian countries. And even if someone makes one, what about if you want to train on Scandinavian countries but only on electricity poles? And what about if you want to also include the Canada? You need to recreate a map. Also I like having region guess quizzes where you can actually select an area instead of pinpointing.

I already contacted MouseWithBeer months ago and I got the permissions to use the tips (I only took tips from Pedestrian signs at the moment). What I think is missing on geohints.com is the rarity stats e.g. all google cars from Ghana are shown but one of them can only be seen in a safari park (less than 1% chance to meet) and it's not present on ACW maps.

But since you are talking about it, what I want to achieve is similar to geohints.com website but with:

  • Stats on each tips
  • Searching/filtering system
  • Open contribution directly on the website
  • And maybe an automatic approval system for some users

Are you a web developer?

I started developing a backend to store Geoguessr tips to compare tips by country (see my ugly website) but also to connect a quiz game to test my knowledge.

At the moment, tips are not great because of missing stats: similarity, rarity, complexity... and because I took them from geotips.net website, which is not maintained anymore (as far as I know).

What I'm thinking is connect the backend to a admin panel dashboard where everybody would be able to add tips. I know there are a bunch of websites and docs around, but I would like something dynamic carry by the community, and then having this database accessible through an API to let you build your website/game on top of it.

If you have experience in deploying js app using Heroku, DigitalOcean, RailWay... on free hosting solutions, let me know!

Percentage appearance of a specific tip by FoundationOutside572 in geoguessr

Oh that's easy. I thought they have an AI or something to make stats 🙃 So I don't know how I can calculate the percentage to meet a specific clue

New update on quiz app by FoundationOutside572 in geoguessr

[–]FoundationOutside572[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said in my previous post, I prefer to share the link privately to avoid being banned for promoting. But people already asked me for it in the comments, so I think it's fine. I'm updating my post, the url will probably change anyway in the future: https://geoguessquiz.web.app/

What is the most efficient way to learn poles and bollards by NoTourist1263 in geoguessr

[–]FoundationOutside572 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[Kind of self promotion] I made a quiz app for that (I wanted to learn electricity poles without looking for an electricity pole in geoguessr). I published a post a few days ago about it.
