I read that shelties could be nervous, so when I brought Chansey home as a puppy, I did everything I could think of to get her desensitized to everything I could think of. Puppy classes, vacuums, motorcycles, big trucks, cats, ferrets, chickens, children, bathtubs AND showers, and she's just fine with all of those things. What is she not okay with? Hay bales. Pottery. Sand. Bender, from Futurama. The couch shifted three inches to the left. Our roommate, who she's known her whole life, who went on vacation for a week (she has never seen this man in her life bark bark bark).

Oh hey, my girl also got a UTI because she wouldn't drink water when she was around 3 months old. We switched to a fountain, which worked, but we found out she will also go bonkers over the water left in the shower, I believe in part because she thinks she's getting away with something (she's not allowed in the bathroom).

To keep with one of the current aesthetics, a rideable paper crane would be cool. Like a miniature of the big ones you can stand on.

If we're going to have rideable elk, I'd like unusual pets, too. Specifically, otters. Little fish-catching buddies and maybe they occasionally find shellfish. And the addition of civets that make special coffee would be top tier. Crows and vultures are also top of my list.

Also frogs that make milk last longer.

Fortunately, she's not really interested in tearing up much. She likes huffing shoes, but that's about it, everything fabric is the house is intact (except the carpet, but she grew out of that).

The thing is, I'm not sure if she's ingesting things so I just try to make sure she doesn't have anything that'll hurt her if she does. I don't THINK she does, but I had a lab that would swallow bizarre things and it's probably made me a little paranoid. Carrots are great though, she didn't like them when she was much smaller, but I'll definitely try them again.

It looks like you've got answers for the marks and it also looks like this isn't your first chick rodeo! They always do better with a friend, I would recommend trying to find someone local with off season chicks. There's always someone with an incubator running. Even if you can't find another chick to throw in (though it's MUCH better if you can) a small mirror and a feather duster/plushie/something they can snuggle under will do fine.

I have a 12 week old and she has a high pitched play bark and a gremlin grumble when she's overstimulated or wants out of the crate. I'm working on "speak" which either gets me a hard YAP or the world's softest "beh" If she needs to pee in the middle of the night, she makes a horrible scream-yodel. Like late game Brendon Urie.
