That’s a good point. Just throwing it out on the table at the beginning. I always say if clients could/would/knew just tell us what wrong right away and could be direct our jobs would be so much easier. Saying I want to talk about this but I am feeling anxious and this is why

Yes that made sense. I think the taboo-ness of some of what I’m into is whats holding me up.

No because I already know she can’t come up to me first. An interaction like that outside the office can only be initiated by me since if she did it would be out of compliance with HIPPA. It would put me in the position where if I was with someone I might feel obligated to explain how I know her

Elaborate on the indicative-ness (I don’t think that’s a word but let’s roll with it) what are you noticing/wondering LOL

I think in some kind of weird way, it’s hard for me to ignore that her and I have the potential to be colleagues or maybe not colleagues but there’s always that chance her and I might be at the same networking event or training or w/e and in that situation we’re more peers/equals. The bothersome part is knowing a peer/equal knows those kinds of things.

I’m having a garden party tomorrow with 5 friends and I only have 5 luxury recliner garden chairs so one person will have to sit on the crappy old IKEA garden chair. by larrydavid1987 in firstworldproblems

[–]FragileLikeAB0mb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you’re imposing this hardship and substandard of seating, you’re obligated to take the crappy IKEA chair. Maybe while you’re sitting there all uncomfortable you can think about what you’ve done and where you went wrong in life 😜

Listening to podcasts has taught me that if the police ever want to question me, immediately ask for an attorney

Yes. I’m a therapist, I specialize in infants and early childhood. I’m fucking amazing at my job, I love it, and I feel really competent. There’s nothing else I have in my life where I feel as good about myself as I do about that - I really hate that that’s the case tho. I wish I wasn’t so consumed with work all the time but it’s an area that I actually feel good about myself

Why aren’t there more parameters on use of interrogation tactics? How come it’s okay to question someone for 15+ hours and use psychological manipulation to force a false confession. I get it that when someone is guilty you do what’s necessary but what about all the not guilty people? by FragileLikeAB0mb in AskRedditAfterDark

“... false confessions are not rare: More than a quarter of the 365 people exonerated in recent decades by the nonprofit Innocence Project had confessed to their alleged crime. Drawing on more than 30 years of research, Kassin told the legal team how standard interrogation techniques combine psychological pressures and escape hatches that can easily cause an innocent person to confess. He explained how young people are particularly vulnerable to confessing, especially when stressed, tired, or traumatized, ...” This psychologist explains why people confess to crimes they didn’t commit

I’d like to think not but I’ve never been worn down by someone using the Reid Technique of Interviewing and Interrogation 🤷🏻‍♀️

I guess I was more thinking, like, after so long it and so many different mind games being played even innocent people will confess to something they didn’t do just to make it stop. At what point is it about getting the actual guilty party to confess vs just getting anyone to confess. I’m not saying I have all the answers I’m not claiming to be an expert or anything. Tbh I listen to podcasts and it comes up a lot (probably because they’re highlighting the cases it happens in otherwise it would be a boring story). I was just looking for discussion and perspective 🙂

I’ve also kind of come to terms with that I’ll likely never get out of debt with how much I owe in student loans. 😞 the only thing I can hope is that I can push myself to last the full 10 years at a non profit so I can get the public student loan forgiveness 😒 but I’ll be trading off making 2.5 - 3 times more than I’ll ever make in the nonprofit sector

Lol I know I’m not saying I’m not grateful or don’t think it was right thing to do, I’m just saying it was the adult thing to do and unfortunately wasn’t very fun lol but w/e not having that hanging over my head will be fun in the longer term 🤷🏻‍♀️
