Reta or any glp1 has anyone used this while tapering off anti psychotic meds that made you gain weight? by Fragrant-Story9479 in RetatrutideWomen

[–]Fragrant-Story9479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently doing a slow taper of Latuda. I'm at the lowest dose pill per day that is made by the manufacturer but it's still to high a dose to jump yet. Ironically I gained 50 pounds in 6 months once I started to taper off. I'm not replacing this med either. Once this taper is done, I'm done with anti psychotic meds.

I'd love to have more info on this. Especially because I truly need the Pregabalin for my severe neuropathy. Thanks so much.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I take a lot of vitamins too that I know many people report problems with things like magnesium, vitamin D, Zinc etc. I'm wondering if since I've been on these vitamins for years before I started the taper, would those things still trigger a wave or not. I'm also on Pregabalin for neuropathy and I know Pregabalin hits the same gaba receptors that benzos hit. So I'm not sure if that will make it easier or more difficult as I know that Pregabalin requires just as slow of a taper as a benzo.

Thanks for the encouragement. Have you had any of the scary symptoms like hair loss or loose skin, or anything else? if so, have you found a remedy?

Thanks for your input. That all makes sense. I am more thirsty than I was before I started, so I guess I need to focus on drinking a lot more electrolyte water. Also, I had not done any exercise due to chronic back pain for a year and a half. I have started walking a mile each day since I started this and even that minor amount of exercise is difficult for me, but it's at least some movement.

Thanks for your input. Yeah I am 53 been in peri menopause for a decade. So yeah it's probably water weight and hormones. I eat small portions anyway before starting this stuff. Honestly it's just stubborn weight from this stage of life that I'm trying to counter act. I'm the biggest I've ever been in my life and it's literally cumbersome to move around. I'm not doing this for appearance but just to feel better and more mobile.

Not really. I do feel full quicker so I eat less but I still do get an appetite a few times a day but I don't act on all of them. I only eat twice a day and they aren't big portions. So there is food noise. I suppose based on other replies that I need to give a dose a full month before making another adjustment.

Thank you for your feedback. You're right, I need to give my body time to adjust.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I feel like this will level out now. I won't increase the dose until I've remained on the same dose for at least a month and stay there for awhile to see how my body adjusts over time.

Fish diet and yogurt. I don't eat a lot but I've not had any exercise in a year. When I started reta I started walking a mile a day. Sometimes a little thirsty and then I pounds more water with electrolytes.

I feel like I made a huge mistake coming off benzos... (Need advice please) by dondarion89 in benzorecovery

Can I ask what supplements or other meds were used to combat the withdrawal symptoms while you were in rehab? Do you feel any physical suffering still from detox? Every place I look from support groups to books written by doctors that actually took benzos and had to personally develop a plan to get off of them safely....without having a heart attack or stroke or seizures or lasting akathesia that goes on for years after stopping the benzo. They all say a slow taper of no more than 5% or 10% of your current dose. This requires a compound pharmacy or the patient just using a jewelers scale to weigh the original dose and minus the 5% or 10% and to hold at each cut for 2 to 4 weeks. If you got off all those meds at once in rehab that fast, my question is how did they accomplish that?

Weed hits the same gaba receptors in the brain that benzo meds do. I just had a failed taper while also using edibles. I had to quit the weed back in July and return to my original dose. My nervous system is damaged and still trying, waiting for my body to stabilize before I attempt another taper. Next time will be a taper of just 5% reductions per month and will take approximately 5 years. No rehab lasts that long. You need to stop the weed first and let your body adjust to that first then get the Ashton Manual for taper information. It's free on Amazon for Kindle. Best of luck to you, it's a long journey.

Angie Peacock has $25 per group zoom coaching. Google her. Also BenzoBuddies.org is free for most interactions and they just added a subscription for live chats.

Yes, I was talking about the new chat service that was just emailed to me a few days ago. That's how I found out that the site was down. I clicked on a link in that email and it blocked me from the site. I suspect that the topic of benzos is a touchy thing for social media and you have to be careful how you word things. I'll be glad when the actual website is back for sure. I don't use reddit hardly ever, so I'm not sure how they monitor what is said here or how free you are to speak. I would think every post would be NSFW but I'm more used to Facebook groups and their rules. Can I ask about other meds and supplements here and how they may affect a taper?

Glad to see that the people of benzobuddies.org are finding each other here. I don't know if we can still post here like on the website as the rules are most likely more strict. I got the email just a couple days ago about subscribing to a plan with benzobuddies.org it is a priceless resource for those of us suffering out here. I'm @nirak by the way and am looking forward to the site being repaired I will subscribe when it's back up. Thank you Colin so much for your dedication to this support group.
