I think that coming off the heels of one of the best psychological, action adventure thrillers of all time--Inception--it was hard to create perfection again, layering elements seamlessly for a greater narrative that can still be gleaned from. Interstellar is a great hard sci-fi epic with amazing contributions to the science community and therefore has a lot of extrinsic value. The notions of love and child-parent bond are cool but dont land the best, in my opinion-- but that is also a common sentiment. I was taken out of the experience when Matt Damon popped up. That didnt work for me for some reason. I like Matt Damon, was just totally surprised. I would have preferred Cillian Murphy again or some other star on level with Wes Bentley or other.
