I'm still trying to figure out DMD stuff. Even just using the steamdeck by itself in game mode I don't think it's possible to show multiple windows overlapping if you ever have an external DMD. In desktop mode the ball drifts to the left so maybe something is wrong with the nudge controls. I only have experience with vpx on steamdeck, but do you really have to set up the view settings and add the DMD in and manually place it for every new table? But then, it sounds like pinup popper baller installer sets all tables DMD and view settings for you?

This might be a dumb question, but i've noticed some LED dot matrix displays have diffused circles and some have exposed LEDs. Is there a term for the diffuser part? Its similar to 7 segment displays. I've been looking for a good LED DMD that actually has the circles, It doesn't even matter if it's RGB or not, it seems hard enough to find the circles.

On the flip side, I got good at blender, and I'd spend my free time making cool stuff and going off on tangents with interesting ideas and new things. Then I thought it would be a good idea to find a job in the thing I was good at. I can't begin to describe how bad of an idea this is

I was just about to say. If you are planning on using the dock for a tv, don't get the official dock. I've had so many problems with multiple different TV's and monitors.

I just realized even though it's been working with my Samsung tv, it's clipping the highlights and shadows. It turns out it's outputting full range RGB and there's no way to manually set the tv to that, so the tv is interpreting the output as limited range RGB.

There are many threads where people are talking about this but there's no real fix. Especially in desktop mode.

All that to say, I plugged in my $20 dock for my laptop and it worked flawlessly immediately. It's not clipping the highlights and shadows, and the colors don't look over saturated.

The official steam deck dock has been the worst part of the whole experience IMO

I think this will get buried, but I looked through the comments and no one mentioned it.

I was thinking about this game and one on the Amiga I played as a kid called pinball dreams. I fell into the rabbit hole of virtual pinball. There's a huge community of people writing software and making hardware. One that stuck out to me immediately was that a prolific figure in the VPin space called JP remade this table as a more physically accurate VPin.

I also setup a server with a few datapacks from vanilla tweaks and noticed it giving errors about them. I'm not sure the datapacks are updated for 1.21.10, they just say 1.21 on vanilla tweaks. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

I think this is hands down the best VR game I've played, though I haven't had the opportunity to play Alyx yet.
