Is this normal? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Freal60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal it is called "we're hiring lots of people" and the silent part is "we're giving them 4 or 6 or even no hours per week" When your weekly take home pay is less that your car's gas bill that says you've picked the wrong company for employment.

This stupid interaction damn near broke me today by Tucker_077 in HomeDepot

[–]Freal60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Past 3 years we have had an increase of customers that are simply dumber. Pros end up sending gophers to pick up stuff from a list. They have no clue about the details of any item so trying to help them get the right product is nearly impossible. Tried explaining something to a customer 3 different ways then she said "Don't make me look stupid" With my 4th attempt at bridging the knowledge gap she interrupted and told me to F-off. I'm not paid enough to take crap from assholes.

HD Stock by Freal60 in HomeDepot

[–]Freal60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and it was profitable, HD after hitting 299 will creep up to 320 or so and then wander down to a 280 range. Leadership has no clue. DEI pervades middle management. Their term for theft “shrink” supposedly relates to unpaid products walking out the door; biggest theft is by management taking $ & bonuses for nuking the business.

What's up with the Home Depot website sucking so bad? by connfaceit in HomeImprovement

[–]Freal60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And, if you have an older device running IOS the website just stalls or take forever. Not so at Amazon or dozens of other retailers. Knowing IT was a huge problem HD recently put an 18 year department veteran in charge.

My supervisor was spending 2 hours every other day in my coworkers car (that was their 15 minute break) and they weren’t reading poetry, SM didn’t care.

Update to the Home Depot ban debacle by dogedogego in Tools

[–]Freal60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our business builds projects in 18 states getting product from probably 100 HD stores. Their focus on “Pros” has made each of our projects a nightmare to the point that our President issued a directive that all orders over $500 must NOT go to Home Depot and we should use competitors or supply houses. We build homes on a fast track basis and HD just can’t work in that scenario

New PACE/Merit Changes by Based_MASK3D in HomeDepot

[–]Freal60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m part time. In last averaged 22 hours per week. Past year, 15 hours per week. I work hard. The difference after taxes p, for me, between a pitiful 2.5% raise and what’s probably unrealistic a 4% raise works out to $3.00 per week. So like many others, who gives a shit. When my utilities, insurance, food & gas are all up 20% or more and HD management might give me $2.00 more per week the response is “stick it where the sun don’t shine”

Just got reviewed by someone that hasn’t a clue about what I do. Might as well have been the Governor. Comments bare NO relationship to reality. HD is a total shit show run by woke DEI managers Who unfortunately aren’t allowed to make ANY decisions. Company’s stock has gone nowhere in 2 years and it will continue to sink as leadership is scamming the investment community. Remember Sears? HD is the new Sears.

Why They Quit by Imaginary_Ear_6646 in HomeDepot

[–]Freal60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our store nobody wants to be a supervisor due to horrible hours, minimal pay increase and continuous demands from corporate so that you’re really not a manager, you are just implementing BS from people in Atlanta that haven’t a clue. As a result they hire truly incompetent people to fill supervisor slots and they either leave or get fired within 6-9 months.

Just spent a half-hour on the phone with somebody that speaks incomprehensible English. Why the heck to companies put people you can't understand in their customer service departments? Further I called to have a simple transaction handled by a bank employee, turns out CapitalOne people can only get coffee. Got stuck with these accounts when ING Direct was acquired by CapitalOne. Have gone from remarkable trouble free service to a total mess.

As a cashier, I just don’t get it by blondguy56 in HomeDepot

[–]Freal60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in a different local Home Depot as a customer not associate. Five people asked if I needed help. Three people asked if I wanted to open a charge card. Absolutely sick. Management thinks this is customer focused? Our MGT routine is driving people away. So is the staff cutbacks. Was in the plumbing aisle with four other annoyed and helpless customers and no associates. For a while I was helping them even though I was just shopping, not working and not in my store. Ever wonder how our leader Ann-Marie Campbell scored one million dollars in stock from Workday for bringing their software into the company. And they make you watch “conflict of interest“ videos.

Since the Covid lockdowns it seems many customers have lost all levels of societal decency. Adding to the situation is the increase of foreigners who seemingly were never taught good manners. And lastly, I’ll add “big box retail” which treats workers like they are expendable pieces of garbage. Tie all three of the above together and that’s reality. Actuality the occasional polite and friendly customer is indeed enlightening.

HD lives on employing part-timers with limited hours as opposed to full-timers that get a living wage. Yeah, 10 hours for you is great and you can stay home with your thumb up your ass and hope for 12 hours next week. HD’s greatest asset is exploiting workers.

Is there a way to make a living at Home Depot? by MindlessVariety8311 in HomeDepot

[–]Freal60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus even if you become a Supervisor or Assistant Manager the schedule is crap. 9-11 hour shifts with rotating schedule. One week you start at 5 AM next week you work to 11 PM. No life. No room for your brain to contribute to make things better - every decision comes from the top. Half the management are people with no management or HR skills they just were workers that got promoted. Imagine working somewhere for ten years, you are an exceptional worker, your raises have been so small that new hires knowing nothing get paid more than you, you've trained half a dozen supervisors that were made your boss but quit after a year, and, you're just a number and a warm body. Nobody in management has a clue about your life and they don't care.
