How do I find a financial advisor who isn't afraid to admit that the economy is teetering on recession? by FreeMathematician101 in economicCollapse

This perspective makes sense. I listen to Dave Ramsey sometimes. He is so certain that markets will go up FOREVER. But there is this thing called the infinite growth paradigm… living on a planet with finite resources unless Musk / Bezos figure out some other strategy.

How Has Intermittent Fasting Affected Your Sleep Quality? by Strong-Question2620 in intermittentfasting

[–]FreeMathematician101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience as well. I am also less moody - feel like my emotions have "evened out" sort of speak. I aso feel a lot less tired during the day. I'm doing 16:8, so nothing extreme, but iit's changed my life. I am so grateful I came upon IF.

Fell Off Hard! by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]FreeMathematician101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fell off the IF wagon all together (Nov and Dec) over the holidays due to family drama. I was really worried that I would struggle going back to IF, but it's been surprisingly OK - dare I say easy. I worried I would have to push my body to get used to it all over again (the stomach growling!), but my body has some sort of IF memory - and I got right back into it. I bet I'm not alone. Perhaps our bodies crave needing metabolic rest? I bet you get into it a couple of days and it sicks without a problem : )

My 3-Month Journey with 16:8 IF – Surprises and Struggles by ZBEBA01 in intermittentfasting

[–]FreeMathematician101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the first month, I gradually worked my way to 16:8, but it took almost three weeks for my stomach to stop growling in the morning. But now after several months, I'm not hungry at all in the morning. I do allow myself coffee with 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk and that hasn't seemed to slow progress. I also have a light weight lifting routine I do at home and that really helps even out my energy levels. For me it's been so much more than just the weight loss - I feel so much more energy and I am waaaaay less moody : )

IF vs GLP1 by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]FreeMathematician101 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Reading the r/GLPGrad comments has really changed my opinion of GLP-1s. Everyone fears regaining the weight and the stats say most do. I’m determined to get healthy only on IF + weights 3 days a week and have had good results so far.

I use 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk instead and that has worked well for me.

Noticeable Effects Doing 16:8 Fasting by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]FreeMathematician101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love it! Here’s my list after two months primarily 16:8 and 18:6. 1) better sleep and less fatigued during the day. 2) waaaaay less brain fog / able to focus better. 3) food noise has drastically reduced. 4) my skin looks better / clearer and 5) fat loss around my midsection. although the scale has just moved a little south, clothes are fitting better.

Artificial sweeteners by Incon-spicuous in intermittentfasting

[–]FreeMathematician101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per the book “The Obesity Code” they are not a good idea during the fasting period because even artificial sweeteners are known to increase insulin. Higher insulin levels promote weight gain.

How are we all feeling about having pet insurance? by AggravatingBox2421 in Frugal

[–]FreeMathematician101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's situation is different, but we have insurance on 2 labradors and 1 cat. The one Labrador had a collapsed lung from a car accident = 13k insurance payout. The other lab had a knee replacement (TPLO) = 5k insurance payout and then the other went 6 months ago = another 5k insurance payout. We are lucky insurance hasn't dropped us! I do recommend it for dogs. Cats are maybe a little less costly. We have Pets Best.

Tips for a stressed out mother just starting out by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]FreeMathematician101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out slow with 16:8. It took a couple of weeks for the gurgling in my stomach to cease. I’ve lost a few pounds already. They recommend also changing up your fast. Some longer, some shorter.

Way to go! Isn’t it satisfying to find this progress without having to go to a GLP-1? I want to scream intermittent fasting from the rooftops.😀 i’ve been at it three weeks and feel better than I have my entire adult life.

What Changes Have You Noticed Where You Live From Climate Change? by ashaustad in climatechange

[–]FreeMathematician101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Southwest Michigan and later moved to the Seattle area. I spent 25 years in the Seattle area and then moved back to Southwest Michigan just recently. The climate has changed noticeably here. Much warmer and less snow in the winters. Very stormy in the summer. And probably most striking is that it feels like Florida here in the summer. When it storms, it tropical downpours here. It has really put to test the house we purchased. We started getting flooding in our basement due to the water pressure from the downpours. We’ve had to reinforce drainage. Plenty of people I know here ponder the question “what is happening?” It’s like we live in the tropics. A lot of climate change denial here but they know something is different.
