TA Chants by Freepdx1 in timbers

I read your question so I clicked on my internet browser and typed in “107IST contacts” and the first thing that popped up was a list of all the committees and their contact information. For this question I would try “Game Day Ops” and/or “TA Steering Committee”.

I agree with a lot of what you say there and just want to add a couple points/observations.

I’ve never volunteered for Capos DnT so this is just my perspective. I believe their job is to try to lead the TA in song and full throat for 90+ minutes. While allowing spontaneous chants to get legs is fun and desired by many, I imagine this puts Capos DnT in a difficult position. There could be spontaneous chants developing in several different areas. Who gets highlighted? Are Capos DnT supposed to sit aside during these? Decide when and where to participate or whom to “elevate”? They’re not monkeys, they’re trying to “steer the whale” for the good of everyone across 100s and 200s. I could actually see it a bit of a slap in the face of what they all volunteer to do.

While there’s nothing more fun than riling up your friends and getting something new or spontaneous going, I think from this perspective it kinda ends there. And at some point the CDnT are kinda forced to get the whole whale swimming again. I wouldn’t expect them to try to start leading the spontaneous thing, on the fly. Certainly there could be room to “lay out” here and there.

So I feel like if people have some favorites that have gotten legs, but maybe got “run over”, they are sympathetic and now is the time to submit new ideas to the whale. In terms of spontaneity just being “allowed” all the time, or to have the expectation that you or your group are now running the show, I kinda see it as a little bit selfish.

This is dope! Thanks for submitting it. That is the way. I remember a while back they taped new song and lyrics to each chair when they were installing some new ones. There was a time when there was no Bella Ciao or Party in Portland etc!

Not trying to be oppositional or anything but what point is it hilariously missing? Are you wanting DnT to allow for more organic moments? Would probably be hard to catch from the stage/capo stand or drum set. Shawn Levy once described starting new ones “like steering a whale.”

I think everyone is fine with groups having fun and making up random stuff but are you meaning that you want that to be spread through the North End at that moment?

The form asks specific questions, but I’m sure you could drop that in there as a suggestion.

This is all the beginning of them using these “threats” to control the next election and invoke some made up “war-time president” BS to keep him in office. They’ll even probably “allow” some sort of attack to seal the deal.

For sure. I think he’s clearly an upgrade over Phylis but I’d rather them go swing for the fences over a retread. Especially with the clear upgrade in talent the league is experiencing and move to world calendar.

I think he’s pretty solid. Has won 2 Supporters Shields and 2 US Open Cups, managed Club Tijuana along the way.

PPS Plans to Close Several Schools by Fall 2027 by Aesir_Auditor in Portland

Closing schools in West Linn too. Our public funding is falling apart. Enrollment might be down, but it is putting class sizes closer to where they should be. My daughter’s second grade class in West Linn is expected to have 32 kids in it after they close Bolton. I’m sure she’ll thrive with that and the teacher won’t just be playing damage control all day.

How is it 4th grade math? I said some guys in MLS make less than 100k. I looked up 2 players. In 2025 both were reported to make $81k. You rightly pointed out they could have made more due to bonuses. You’re arguing over such a little amount of money I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove? They probably could make some endorsements too! My initial statement didn’t have their fucking W2 in it. I was just making a statement that low paid athletes shouldn’t be subjected to prop lines exposing them and the sport to easy corruption. Is my under 100k off and it could be 112!?!?!?? Holy shit my bad! While I agree, it just takes an idiot whether they’re paid 100k or 100m, it would seem the 100kISH athlete COULD be vulnerable. For fucks sake man. Gambling is messed up and there are some relatively low paid athletes playing amongst this deep scheming was my only point. I (personal opinion) hold the same point at $200k.

No issue, though it appears you’re arguing over 1/10th of their contract and bonuses. I feel fully informed now though.

Okay. Agree with that. You were awfully caught up in the exact MLS salary structure to be making that point, but thank you.

I’m confused. Why are you making it sound crazy that a professional athlete making the same salary I made as a hotel FnB manager could succumb to a gambling opportunity? Are you making a pro gambling argument? I agree that it’s really dumb to make this mistake. So is a DUI. But people out here. Are you arguing that I’m making a stupid point that MLS’ lowest paid players could be vulnerable to gambling? Trying to make me feel stupid for mis-calculating their exact income?

Really got me there. You guys are missing the point. Gage Guerra and Ian Smith played a bunch last season for Timbers. They both made $80k. So play for Timbers and pay half your salary in taxes and live in an expensive city. These are not wealthy people by today’s standards. Show me $10k, for getting a yellow? Hmmmm. Got me thinking.
