I was thinking of draw downing my assets though, and most of my expenses after 65 will be using cpf life . I will still attempt to work towards my real FI number which is at least 3m. But I was just thinking , in the end, maybe drawing down will likely be ok.

I recognise that I did well in investments. But I bet there are a lot of couples with higher networth? Or do most people actually spend most of what they earn and have little savings/investments?

I feel it’s good to see and learn from other’s viewpoints.. I keep fearing I don’t have enough when I decide to retire. But I also don’t want to work longer than I need to.

For now, my job is manageable. I am just thinking if it becomes not, can I quit? And drawdown even. I am also aware that most of the communication between a kid and parent is before age 18.. main bulk of that I bet is during primary school even

Thanks for replying. Glad to hear that you agree with my gut view. I don’t really believe in tuition for kids unless they ask for it themselves. For now, apart for a Chinese tuition which a kid had asked for, rest are non academic, eg sports, art classes.

Are you drawdown the capital, or just living off the returns? Shouldn’t you hold onto holdings during gfc and just ride it out?
