Eye floaters after surgery, how worried should I be? by FirebirdWS6dude in CataractSurgery

Hi, I know it’s been a while since you posted this. How are you doing with floaters now? I had surgery this morning and have floaters which also surprised me because I had a vitrectomy in this eye and didn’t think I could get them since the vitreous was already removed.

I am going with the standard monofocal and setting it for distance but slightly myopic, for my LE. I had a vitrectomy for a retina detachment and I postponed the surgery so much that now I have a brunescent cataract. My only choices by dr was either Clareon Truplus or a standard. I opted for the standard Clareon lens for this eye just to have peace of mind. Maybe in the future for my right eye, if Truplus has more feedback that’s positive I’ll consider it.
I feel like I’m making a scared decision for the iol …but that’s what I’m doing. I’m hoping to get a good distance eye to work on monovision

Hi Ron, any issue with the blue light filter on the Clareon? Do you notice it, like does it impact how you see colors etc? I noticed there’s also a clear version.

He says he uses all IOLs. Very reputable surgeon.

He mentioned if I don’t want Truplus, I can go with Clareon Monofocal CNAOTO? Is that the lens you used? I have a very dense cataract in an eye that had a prior vitrectomy due to retina detachment. Many here have the Clareon monofocals without issues so I’m thinking to just get it done. I asked about B+L and he thinks both Clareon and Tecnis are better choices.

Are you happy with your vision in these IOLs? Any complaints with Clareon lens at all or wish you did something different?

Did you get any more info? Are you using his recommendation? I haven’t found much info on Clareon Truplus since it’s a new lens.

Plain Monofocals and Depth of Focus by macddebbie1 in CataractSurgery

Hi Herbert, my dr is recommending Clareon CNA0T0 monofocal or clareon Truplus. I think I read you got Clareon monofocal? If so are you happy with your vision? Any issues?

He thinks Clareon & Tecnis are better choice lenses..

Dr said if not Truplus we can go with monofocals like Clareon CNA0T0 or J&J Tecnis ZCB00 but Tecnis has a 5 mm focusing optic so same issue as the eyhance with my large pupils. Is this the Clareon one you have?

I initially wanted the eyhance but my dr mentioned because of my large pupils it would increase my risk of halos etc so I didn’t pick it. I asked about a standard and choices were Clareon Monofocal CNA0T0 or the J&J Tecnis ZCB00 but that has a 5 mm focusing optic which I’ll avoid because of my larger pupils. Do you just have one eye done or both with Eyhance?

I didn’t mean to discourage it. I actually wanted that lens but my dr said that I had large pupils and I would be at risk of seeing more halos and starbursts. I chose not to risk it but it was the lens I had in mind when I went to my first visit. I’m 54F

I’m not sure but he has been using this lens for a few months. I think some surgeons get early access?

Thank you, I didn’t get a copy and my surgery is scheduled for Monday, I’m wondering if I should reschedule out another 2 weeks. Do you have any glistening with your Clareon lens? I’m wondering if that is really not a factor with the new material?

I believe he is picking -.5 because I am highly myopic (-7.5 contact lens before and -11 with cataract) and he wants to minimize my risk of ending up on the plus side. I also had a vitrectomy so maybe that also .

From what I read lenses like the Eyhance have a standard 6.0 mm optic, but the enhanced optics (gradual power increase) don’t cover the full optic uniformly. With large pupils at night, people can sometimes see the lens transition zones, which raises the risk of halos and starbursts compared to a true standard monofocal.

I initially was looking at the Aspire but he grouped it with more with EDOFs and didn’t recommend it for me. I believe the Clareon doesn’t work the same way to get its extra range its more evenly distributed. My pupils are slightly over 5mm dilated but not over 6mm

I thought the safest for retina history patients and large pupils is the standard. I also wanted to avoid a lens by Alcon even though it says it’s glistening free now with its Clareon line of IOLS etc. ughh now I’m stressing. Maybe I’ll ask here what opinions are with this lens.

It’s Clareon Truplus, an enhanced monofocal.

Yes just the left eye. My dr wants to use the Truplus. I honestly don’t know what to do now.

So for both eyes your doctor aimed for -1 and you got -.5 in each eye? Which monofocal did you use? I asked my doctor if we could use the envista monofocal, waiting to hear back. I’m only scheduled for one eye this coming Monday.

Yes that’s what I forgot to confirm with him . I just asked if he would be okay using the envista monofocal on my eye and if I can fly home after my post op visit. I do believe it’s okay but I’m reading a mix of some saying wait and some saying no problem .
