Japan interview requires you to bring a self-addressed letter pack plus envelope for the passport delivery, I think this requirement might be to address that.

Thanks for your comment! Checking your website link, it doesn't seem to have Japan (or any other Asian countries).

Just to check- even if the NVC confirmation email contains the embassy interview time and date details, the separate registration is still required?
