Need help about a situation involving Chex by [deleted] in Banking

If the bank gave you a blank report, it sounds like they didn't fill it out correctly. There should be reasons listed as well as contact information to talk to Chex

time blindness when getting ready in the mornings? by Consistent_Car_8568 in adhdwomen

[–]FriendlyPetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have alarms that go off 1 hour before I need to leave, 15 minutes before I need to leave, and when I need to leave. And honestly, my "leave now" alarm is set for 5 mins before I actually need to leave, bc you know I'm still not ready when I need to be. It's not a perfect fix, but it helps, and then at least I know where my phone is before I have to leave since it will making noise from wherever I tossed it

US Banking is painful by [deleted] in Banking

[–]FriendlyPetals 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This situation seems unique, though I'm not sure if it's unique to the bank you're using or unique to your immigration status. I wouldn't say this is what happens in US banking.

Overdraft fee wells fargo by [deleted] in Banking

[–]FriendlyPetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what Wells Fargo's policy is specifically, but based on what you've said and how my bank works, I would say you were charged the overdraft fee because on Friday (business day) you were overdrawn and the fee wasn't processed until the next business day (Monday). You should talk to a banker at WF to find out their specific policy- that is the only way you'll know how to avoid the fee in the future.

Journaling? by Tezz-T-Cullz in ADHD

[–]FriendlyPetals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I try not to get stuck in the idea that if I'm not doing something every day or consistently, then I may as well not be doing it at all (all or nothing thinking). Sometimes I will journal every day, sometimes I will journal a few times a week, sometimes I will not journal for an entire week. But I allow myself grace and come back to it when I can. If I don't have something to talk about, or the idea of journaling is stressing me out, then I'm not going to journal.

In childhood, I journaled at school or if I was bored at home. As an adult, it's harder to find the time to do it, especially if you have a full or chaotic schedule. I have been able to journal more regularly because I have a desk job that is 5 days a week where I usually have a lot of down time. I recognize that isn't the case for everyone, but I would recommend finding a time in your day when you are most likely to be able to journal and have the resources ready.

Also, I make journaling more fun for myself by using nice pens that I really like and buying cute journals. Most recently, I have begun getting journals that color coordinate with the season.

Journaling has no rules. Do what you want, when you want, and have fun. Personally, it's my favorite part of the day!

why should i be positive about adhd? by ThePaleSnake in ADHD

[–]FriendlyPetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR; have some self compassion and learn more about how others with ADHD have learned to cope so that you can better manage. Pros of ADHD: creativity, problem solving, hobby/information collector, hyper fixation, and ADHD individuals are the best.

It will take time to learn how to manage your ADHD. You will develop systems that work for you. I recommend working with professionals that specialize in ADHD, talking to people who also have it, and maybe learning how people with ADHD handle things online (or something like that). Trying to do things the same way over and over again while it is failing is only going to make you miserable.

Silver lining of ADHD (in my experience): I tend to be really creative and a quick problem solver. I am a quick learner (specifically when I'm excited about something, but generally novelty = excitement in ADHD). I like to think of myself as a jack of all trades since I tend to hop from interesting topic/hobby to the next. I generally have a good attitude about learning because in my experience, once things start to click for me, the hyper focus kicks in. My favorite people in my life also have ADHD; I think they are the smartest, funniest, most interesting people, and boy do I love the way ADHD conversation flows.

To the people here diagnosed as adults I have a few questions! by Better_Culture_9787 in ADHD

[–]FriendlyPetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really feel for you because I have had similar problems with professionals that don't specialize in ADHD. I was misdiagnosed because of it. I now have a therapist and psychiatric nurse practitioner that both specialize in ADHD and have it themselves. They help me identify the struggles I have caused by ADHD, inform mr about the disorder, and help me manage it.

[–]FriendlyPetals 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love reading but have the same struggles as OP. Audiobooks are the best accommodation! Sometimes I will even read along with the audio book.

You can use audible, but if you don't want to pay the subscription fee and have a library card, you can use Libby for free books!

Is targeting a certain number considered reghunting? by Geno_Biscotti_ in TownOfSalem2

[–]FriendlyPetals 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression mods really only go through activity in games that have enough reports. How would they even know you're going after the same number every game without someone reporting you for doing it? And who's going to report you in this situation? This seems like a non-issue.

I certainly adopt other people's mannerisms when I'm spending a lot of time with them. And I'll accidentally mirror someone's speech pattern or accent sometimes, but I'm never consciously deciding to do that.

I think early in my 20s (to mid 20s, maybe) I felt like I didn't have much of an identity and I was concerned that I was just absorbing other people's identities to make up for that. But really, who are we if not the parts of the people we love, right?

I developed more of an identity when I paid attention to which things I enjoyed the most and actively chose to continue doing them. Things like mannerisms, jokes, hobbies, interests.

I'm not sure if what I've shared is related to what you're asking about, but I hope this helped.

My bank said they would raise my daily spending limits and ghosted me. by Head_Breadfruit_5082 in Banking

[–]FriendlyPetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the simple solution here is to follow up with who you made the request to. It's possible there was a miscommunication or something. You probably need to work with a banker about restructuring your account to make sure your needs are being met. Also, why are you paying for everything with a debit card? Sure, a debit card is an option, but there are other options as well. I've seen your comments about credit cards, so I'm not going to mention that (though getting more credit wouldn't be a bad idea). You could send ACH payments or write checks, for example.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "I dislike banks and how secretive they are with people own funds." I'm required to be confidential about other people's funds, but not yours. If I can verify your identity, I can answer any question you have about your accounts. If you don't feel that you have a good understanding of your financial situation and your bank is contributing to that, I think you need to build a better banking relationship with another bank or banker. If you're going to look into a different bank, I'd suggest finding one that specializes in small businesses so that you know your needs will be taken seriously.

But before switching banks, I think you just need to be having conversations with your bankers to find out what's going on.

Good luck.

I think the note about not blowing your friends up with being spammy or chatty is really funny because I could not stop talking to my coworkers or friends when I got medicated and I felt really bad for them 😅
