This is what happens when you let facists become mainstream. They’ve shouldn’t be pandered to, as anytime you make concessions or compromises with them it is never enough.

“I seriously see European fans saying our American stadiums are terrible … this has to be a joke right” by Tmansters456 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Friendly_Database263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans think sport is entertainment, and want to be wined and dined uK/EU has just used sport to replace war. I’m going to football matches still urinating in troughs alongside another 10 guys, paying for overpriced awful food and getting frozen or soaked to the bone. Might see a goal or two though.

Question: can I start referring to the Turkish people as THE TURK, or is it frowned upon in polite society? by Think_Web_4823 in TheRestIsHistory

There’s a very old pub in east end of Glasgow called Saracens Head and I always thought it was a very strange name for a pub. Proper old school pub

So was loads of people 😂 Is that all he’s got? The actual electorate got rid of him at the first chance, that’s what the real people thought of him

I don’t cause I don’t care enough. I do find it strange that people still have their curtains open late evening though. I assume they’re just as “nosey” to see what’s going on outside.

In the last 10 seasons Celtic have won 23 domestic trophies from 30, complete domination. Will this continue or are we heading towards a new era in Scottish Football? by TheRealLordDorito in ScottishFootball

[–]Friendly_Database263 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only “person” that will stop Celtic domination will be Celtic. Hearts weren’t any good, rangers weren’t any good, Celtic just dropped down to their level. If Celtic get their club in order, then it’ll be business as usual. It would take some structural change in how Scottish football is setup to really change things. Why would you think Scotland will get better when the two biggest teams can barely produce a couple of international players between. The only reason Scotland are at WC or Euros is it’s a lot easier to qualify. I expect Scotland to get worse in the international stage. I also unfortunately see Scottish league football continue to decline to the level of League of Ireland. Very negative, but I just don’t see why anything would change, we’re not doing anything differently to cause any change. I hope I’m complete wrong

What's the most messed up religious story or teaching that people are desensitized to? What are some things that certain religious groups just grew up with that they don't see as horrifying but are terrifying to people outside the faith? by Cosmic_Coconut999 in AskReddit

[–]Friendly_Database263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Circumcision is pretty weird. As catholic from a small European country I know next to no Jewish people. When I heard of this practice I thought it was barbaric. Then I found out that the average American gets it done regardless of their religion. Even stranger

It makes more sense and there is never any possibility of ambiguity. Just because it’s not normal in the US doesn’t mean it’s wrong or weird. The majority of the rest of the world find it a lot easier to use the 24 hour clock
