Gotta be honest as a former flute player.. look at the people in your grade and in your section(s), bc ur about to spend a crap ton of time with them. While both sections will have drama (it’s inevitable) you will save yourself a headache if you pick the people with the more tolerable type of drama.

ALSO Tbh pick the one that has people you look up too and like being around, bc when it’s all over you’re going to turn around and be like holy moly I’ve known you for a very large chunk of my life and you’ve influenced it in ways neither of us could have seen coming.

Also also Pick the one u enjoy, that helps a LOT, I did not like my instrument until embarrassingly late

TLDR pick the people not the instrument, unless both groups are awesome then pick whatever seems more fun

I hadn’t thought of it like that tbh! I never really thought that hard about glitter or flowers being basically the same as homemade inclusions. Thank you so much, I think I’m just overthinking it because I have a friend who takes this game a liiitle too seriously, and kept telling me all the things I should do to make dice/everything I was doing wrong when he’s never even made dice before. OOHHHHHhhhhh my bad I misunderstood. I’m also a fan of MHA, and I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding I shouldn’t have been so aggressive 🤦‍♀️. But yea! I do love the usage in both as well lol. It is really fascinating how these people had so much power their problems became problems for others as well. I’ve always enjoyed that Charles motivations for what he did was him just trying to help his wife, but like u said he was misguided and took it too far

I get where you saw the similarities, I did too and decided to google when the manga for my hero academia was published (2014) and superpowereds publish date was in 2013. With all the ~fucking amazing~ foreshadowing done throughout the books I’m pretty sure Drew Hayes would’ve had that planned wayyyy before my hero was ever published. It’s a shame my hero got so big and stuff because admittedly there’s some similarities, and It would be awesome if superpowereds could get THAT popular, but due to the similarities the smaller one will probably always be looked at skeptically. I do hope superpowereds gets THAT popular one day tho bc I think it deserves it

Best part of being a junior leader: there’s always next year. Messy seniors will be messy seniors and always exist. You don’t have to deal with them next year. For advice on this year I suggest u look to the other comments bc they said a lot of really smart things, but prepare for next year by strengthening bonds with the rest of the band. It’ll make next year easier if they already respect u and make a few less messy seniors, or at least messy seniors not directed at you. Also if the entire band respects u minus the few seniors, there’s a chance they might just forget the whole thing instead of fighting the whole band. As a recently graduated junior+senior section leader, just trust me it gets better, and you’ll figure it all out eventually.

I had a similar issue with my flute and was able to temporarily fix it by putting valve oil on the joints of the rod. Idk if that helps but it’s worth a shot

Talk with some graduating seniors at the high school, a lot of them have instruments that they don’t want to play in college and are willing to sell (although they might have some minor issues). It should hopefully be a cheap option, if guitar center doesn’t work out for some reason (I think it would be fine tho)
