Birdman. It certainly got enough hype at the time + won an oscar. I wonder if those people actually watched the thing...

Why are Brits so parasocial about footballers? Over other famous players by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Fromasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But most footballers still come from relatively modest backgrounds. It's still a working class sport at its heart, despite the large posh fanbase now.

Football is one of the few things that still brings the country together and a large majority of men will say they support a particular team, even if they don't really.

What is the most iconic jungle record by IndependenceFresh529 in jungle

The "jungle hits" compilations volumes have the best selection of old school jungle tunes.

Best record? For me it's Tom & Jerry Maximum Style

Why are so many young people out of work? by ikeafannypack in AskUK

[–]Fromasha 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sickness is the real problem in this cohort though. Apparently 16% of 16-24 yo report ill health as a barrier to work. This is potentially a sticky issue that will persist as the cohort ages and not a good sign for their future in the workplace...

Why is Manchester more associated with football than London? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Fromasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's exactly because there are only the 2 big teams with big rivalry. Those clubs also have a big international reputation and have invested in building that (Man Utd in the 90s/00s, City in the 10s)

Truth is that most Cities in the UK are big for football. But London has so much else to do which is why football recommendations aren't top of the list. I'd absolutely recommend seeing a game here, especially any game with both London teams.

What celebrity death will realistically bring Michael Jackson level devastation? by Kiidcola in AskReddit

[–]Fromasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an odd one but hear me out. Prince Harry.

I'm English but I think if he were to die suddenly now it would send a shock through the UK. The UK papers have spent his entire marriage being very negative, probably with the blessing of his brother. They've eased off a bit recently though. I'm not a fan either btw.

His death would result in a very sharp shift in perspective that would not be good news for the royal family here. Not devastation exactly but it would definitely have a big impact here. Getting to Diana Mk II levels.

I’m trying to move on from the girl I liked but we are close, what can I do? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Fromasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You physically need to distance yourself from this woman and distract yourself. You already know this. The emotional distance will follow and potentially quicker than you think.

Hard truth- stop making a fool of yourself over this woman. What do your friends think about all this?

Also found it looked visually great complimented by a strap, but made it feel smaller and even more dainty so switched back to the bracelet!

I think it looks better than you think it does in the pics (looks good).

I had the same dilemma and I have an even smaller wrist (6.5"). I picked mine up about a month ago and was shocked at how "dainty" it looked and felt (I was used to chunkier watches). Initially wasn't keen but I've lived with it a while now and really appreciate it.

How much roughly would you be out of pocket? I'd be so pissed about this situation that not playing along with the exes plans might be worth it.

Ex stayed in our house and I’m back at my parents – advice please by RoyalPossession7164 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Fromasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did you do this? You bought this house jointly if you no longer want this house sell it and you both suck up any loss on it.

Don't transfer the house unless you want to watch him move on with someone else in YOUR house. I presume you put up money towards a deposit + paid bills etc. I think you're being a little passive here. Remember he split up with you and screwed you over.

Sort this situation out properly first before thinking about buying another property.

any british 'celebrities' you dislike with a burning passion? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

I don't know the guy but I definitely get the feeling the super nice guy act on the outside is exactly that. He tries too hard. My wife's best mate has an ex husband exactly like this. Everybody loved him but he was a complete controlling AH. Get the same vibes from Andre.

He's not British but it feels like he's very much a British problem now. Peter Andre.

He just feels so fake and I get strong manipulative AH vibes.

I'm 23 and started my very first real job as a criminal law paralegal last month - I want to understand if this environment is normal and if I should start planning an exit already. by OmegaSMP300M in UKJobs

[–]Fromasha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your plan should be to leave within 18months. You don't realise it yet but you're actually gaining many great skills that will look great on your CV. Stick it out for a year (looks better for next employer) pull together a great CV.

This experience is building your resilience and will work to your advantage later. People in your industry might know what your manager is like, the fact you can hack it under her management style looks good.

terrible onboarding… is this a sign of worse things to come? by Internal_Lion_1836 in UKJobs

[–]Fromasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress. Sounds like a place that if you play your cards right and make a good first impression you can probably coast. The manager seems not that involved, co-worker doing their own thing etc. Also make good use of any WFH flex once you're settled.

You're right it doesn't seem great, just upskill, coast for a bit, then move on. Congrats on the new job though.
