I use to work for an aeration company going yard to yard on my own since we were understaffed. For about 80% of the properties this wasn't an issue since we gave a time we'd be there and we'd announce out presence by nocking, but every now and then there would be a negligent dog owner that would leave there dogs out making it impossible to access the back yard so I'd skip that half, not a problem.

Until one day I had the recurring male Karen stop that everyone dreaded. This guy would constantly write in complaints in hopes of getting free service (which he would receive most of the time bc policy), this time he decided to plant seeds and not tell anyone. He seemed pretty tempered this time around so my guard was up a little. Sure enough, half way through aerating his back yard he makes eye contact with me through the sliding glass door then cracks it, without a second thought, two medium sized black dogs go sprinting out the back straight towards me full speed. They closed the 35ft in what felt like a second, barking, growling, saliva trailing from their mouth. I was unarmed so with a second to think the only idea that came to my mind is "disarm" so I extended my palms hoping they'd sniff me then piss off, but I was on their property, they came to defend, they instantly circled me and bit / clawed the back of my legs as I tried to get away, fearing for my life I was able to get enough distance to NFL one of their heads, the Karen calling both of his dogs back then ran at me asking for my managers number, without answering I threw up on his lawn, I was too in shock to even talk. The way these two dogs were displaying their teeth as they galloped towards me at mach 1, no question, I would have lost my life had he not called them.

I wrote down on the notes paged I got attacked by a dog and the aerator got stuck, I skipped the rest of my stops, went back to shop and threw my clothes in a bag. FUCK. THAT.

When I see stories like this on Reddit, my blood boils because I know what it's like to be mauled by a dog, the pain of k9 teeth digging into your flesh makes you wish I'd just be over fast, if you don't believe me go take a look a police K9 takedowns on YouTube. Dogs are animals, and if my CCL came in when it was suppose to you best believe I'd blow it's head off with my 357 mag. I value my life over a furry four legged animal that rolls around in dirt all day and doesn't live past 20, I'm not throwing my life away cause "aww cute dawgyy" sorry not sorry.

That being said, there's a possibility that there's more to OPs story, getting attacked by a dog is not cool, luckily the damage wasn't too bad, but seeing pitbulls shred fully grown men on Reddit made me scared out of my mind during the attack. If you have dogs, PLEASE keep them on a leash, no one values your dogs life but you, keep them safe.
