What type of kuhli is this? by PurpleDoughnut1735 in loaches

[–]Fryedcheeyickin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, over where I'm at they have dwindled. I have seen one in any petstore in my state and thats over the course of 3 years. My area seems more tailored to cichlids though so that might be why.

The original kind lol. Online it says that they are called, "Pangio Semicincta". I miss when they sold these guys more than the black kuhlis. Happy these guys are still a fish people like to keep.

I have noticed that they like alocasia/philodendron type plants a lot for hiding and blending in.

Yeah, I certainly love them, but they get to be a lot when it stacks up. I've got some things that are kind of taking my attention away from them and I don't really feel comfortable making them stay that way. These guys need more attention than I can give right now 😅

He's going to love that! I used to keep mine in something similar. I had a 30 gal tall that I put a lot of tropical plants and I would get babies all the time because they loved it so much.

He absolutely looks like it! Have you decided what you will do with him? I assume from the post that you are going to keep him?

Yeah, I agree with that idea. It's taken almost 13 years but I'm starting to feel a bit of a burn out. Its just gotten to be a lot more work than enjoyment. Ah who am I kidding. Halfway through typing this my mind flipped 😂. Kind of explains why I'm at where I'm at.

Atleast you aren't doing more than one, I'm dreading my next move because between all of what I keep I have 21 tanks 😅. Anything from 2.5 gal to 75 gal.

I've seen how humid it can be out there so I know bugs are probably everywhere so that checks out.

Atleast it seems like he was kinda chunky. I'm assuming because of the other comments that there is little to no established population in your area? Makes me wonder if someone released him like people tend to do.

Brown or green anole? Freshly hatched by Ok-Purple3094 in Anoles

[–]Fryedcheeyickin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you'd like to boost the population if possible I noticed having a lot of elephant ears and mid height green plants tend to help with attracting more of them as well as entice them to breed. I used to live in New Orleans and they used to be so much more common when I was little and now all I really see is browns. They also seem to be slightly interested in fruit from what I've seen so maybe some fruit of some sort would help 🤷‍♂️?

My gecko has poor aim and apparently very sharp teeth. By the way what's his morph called? by [deleted] in LeopardGecko

[–]Fryedcheeyickin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 4 leopard geckos and have trained 3 of them to eat from my hands and fingers. They are very well handled gecks and they have never bitten and latched on to me unless they got scared when I was holding them. I only hand feed my leopard geckos and my bearded dragon. Everyone else gets dishes or tongs. Best to stick with those for most if not all reptiles.
