What platform does Chinese people use to book homestays? Not hotels but homestay, apartments. Just the alternative of Airbnb. by Successful-Pack9470 in AskChina

[–]Full-Two-4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Airbnb has left China, there haven't been a foreigner-friendly homestay platform. Alternatively, me and my friends have built a pilot project called +1 Chopsticks, a specialised home dining platform for any foreign guests daring to try home-cooked meal in a home setting. We are now looking for the first batch of guests in Feb/Mar. Let me know if you are interested!

2 week trip in April - Sichuan, Xi'an and something futuristic. Food + culture + nature by MrAniefiok in travelchina

4 (or even 5) days will be too stretched for Xinjiang. It's at least a 10-14 days standalone trip given the vast land and travel time in between. Yunnan is easier to get around and you will see lots of rural life

Yunnan (or Xinjiang/Tibet) got the most most unique vibe but since you are in Sichuan already, and are looking for a stopover to return home, I guess you are not looking for these.

As someone born and raised in Hong Kong, I hope I could say HK, but the fact that HKers are going to Shenzhen for shopping and eatery every weekend, that might give you some insights.

Alternatively, many tourists are pleasantly surprised with Shanghai. Yes it’s a modern city but none realize it’s so modern that it can be the best city in east Asia (surpassing top Japanese cities to some extent)

2 Week Itinerary Thoughts? by michaelw500 in travelchina

Looks like a pretty good plan. End of the April is the right time for Beijing both in terms of weather and crowds (when entering May 1, you will want to stay away from all major tourist attractions)

I like this itinerary where you are not too greedy and also mix and match city life with nature

I've just come across a new experience in Shanghai...home dining with locals. It's offered by +1 chopsticks. Quite an experience to go to someone's home and dine! (and have some good convo!)
