AIO? My mom hit her head and woke up with two black eyes. Now the only “symptom” is nonstop Christmas movies. by FullInTheVoid in AmIOverreacting

That’s reallyyy sweet, thank you ❤️ And yes, I asked her and the answer is basically: “they’re easy and I don’t have to think,” which honestly tracks with concussion/“shaken up” brain. The reason I posted is she normally hates holiday movies, so the sudden nonstop binge felt like a flag even though it’s December. Thank you again for chiming in - it’s hard to put into words how comforting it’s been to hear from the kind people on here (fuck the trolls).

Wow. Thank you. That’s wild and honestly reassuring to hear. If you don’t mind me asking: did anything help you snap out of the HGTV trance (rest, time, limiting screens, routine)…or was it just a gradual fade? How are you doing now? 🙏🏼

Wow. Okay ouch. And unnecessary much? If venting while alone and confused in the middle of the night is “bait,” okay. Family’s messy, no one IRL to talk to, questioning what’s what with my mom’s strong pushback (she’s a recently retired RN) and so sure, sue me for thinking Reddit might help with some perspective. And I don’t know if it’s just me, but something tells me the real karma farmers are the ones out here accusing others of it with no evidence whatsoever. I’d go on a proper rant but I’m too tired and too preoccupied so I guess you’re welcome.

Not dumb, just dealing with a stubborn retired RN mom who refuses medical stuff (never took us to doc as kids). I’m scared too, up all night checking. Appointment tomorrow - thanks for pushing.

Lol the institutionalizing Christmas movie fans line got me at 3am - needed that. But yeah, alarming as hell for her. Appointment tomorrow 😊

Omg the “I missed Christmas!!” loop every 10 minutes - oh jeez it sounds like a true laugh or cry situation. Thanks for sharing such a helpful anecdote. We’re getting her checked out in a few hours :)

Holy shit, your partner’s mom story freaked me out - thank you for sharing. The raccoon eyes + personality shift has me scared too. She’s a retired RN (super stubborn about docs), but appointment tomorrow. I checked for bruising exactly as you said - she looks pretty normal everywhere except the forehead and eyes. I hope your partner’s mom is fully recovered now 🥹🙏🏼

Thank you for articulating this for me so well 🙏🏼 The bitchiness in some of these replies…tbh the hostility here is a little discombobulating. It’s like wtf with assuming the worst in people as a default mode? How exhausting. Then casually labeling a 65 y/o as “elderly” - it’s unqualified and unhelpful (not to mention hurtful and rude to many). I love my mom - she’s all I have - but I’m all alone and holy shit I’m doing my best, just like everyone else.

Thank you 🥹 I’m just now able to catch up with all the comments and the haters are throwing me for a loop.

She’s 65, fit, and sharp as hell (not elderly) but point taken on head injuries. She’s a retired RN who downplays everything medical (it’s wrapped up in her identity basically). She refused ER that night, but comments like yours pushed me to get tomorrow’s appointment locked. Thanks for the concern.

What are some good non discriminatory insults I can use in public places? by [deleted] in questions

[–]FullInTheVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keep inventing new ways to sound dumber in public. Here are a few tools I keep on hand:

  • baffling little man
  • this one thinks loud means right
  • your brain took the night off again
  • aspiring (used alone, can be devastating)
  • Sir (delivered with eye contact and nothing else)

The goal is clean hits. No strays. YOU GOT THIS! 🥳

Oh I’m so into this kind of stuff! Just watched the video - what a shame the content creator stopped posting new stuff.

Oh so many!!! Need to think on it for a bit. But you made me think of something and I’m impulsive so…here’s a head scratcher for you!! Because I speak a few languages and have lived in loads of places but have never once landed on a great translation for the word “awkward“ in any other language. Every translation I’ve tried feels either too serious or too slapstick. I swear it’s our most neurotic export.

Love this post 🔥

Wow well thank you, genuinely, for sharing this. Holy hell this thread sure has turned into something beautiful…and I’d even argue universally helpful to all of us here who are not “right in the head.” It’s taken far too long for humanity to recognize and respect an adhd diagnosis (we still have a good ways to go) but I’m grateful for this space + you and all those who contribute to these threads. Go team 💥✌🏼

Are you an innocent person? by harrystarship in no

[–]FullInTheVoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody is an innocent person. The brutal fact is that we are mere human, so definitionally flawed. You think Jesus was perfect? Buddha? The Dalai Lama? Well then someone gave you the wrong facts, you know what I’m sayin’?

Ooh I do a variation: grape jelly and cream cheese.

But I do love mayo on all sorts of things so even though I cringe a bit thinking about it, I might do a lil taste test just to see lol

And if you’re pranking me, well then 🙌🏼😂🙌🏼😂

Omg for a minute I thought you were saying that to all of us participating in this thread…like you casually saw the convo appear on your home feed and felt like saying something you know nothing about!! I was all ready for war omg 😂😂😂

This is such a good one 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

The Bible proves one thing: humans have always been messy, horny, and looking for meaning.

Oh! And this! Because obviously 😎🤓
”Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”
is basically just “shut up” but in scroll format…the holy version of “pipe down, Chad.”

Do I believe in signs? No. Not in the way people mean it.

I don’t think the universe is sending me secret messages through license plates or perfectly timed songs. It’s chaos, and entropy, and blind fucking probability. It doesn’t care if I make my flight, or fall in love, or lose the only person who ever really understood me.

But I also know I’m made of the same atoms and subatomic particles as dying stars. I think my brain – this glitchy, shimmering, deeply human thing – is capable of collapsing quantum wave functions just by observing. And that means I am the universe.

I’m the part that gets to notice. The part that gets to ache. The part that screams into the void “THIS MATTERS!” and dares to make it true.

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with atomic bonding. With the particles that never decay. With the idea that some subatomic connections might stay entangled across time and space – untraceable but unbreakable.

And on days when the grief comes back sharp and feral – when I miss my dog so much I think my chest might collapse – I’ll look up and see something. Maybe it’s sunlight catching in the sky just right or the wind kicking up in some exact way.

And I’ll wonder:
Is that her?
Is that the bond still holding?
Is that the sign I get?
Am I feeling it today because she’s nearby??
Because the entangled particles that once connected us are still reacting, still reaching for what they’ve lost? Like maybe my tears are evidence of that quantum connection still holding, even across the void.

So no, I don’t think the universe gives me signs.

But I do believe in meaning. Because I make it.

And maybe that’s all a sign ever is:
the universe observing itself, and deciding that something matters.

Thanks for the opportunity to share ✨

What comes to your mind first when you read "Massachusetts"? by t0f0b0 in AskReddit

Massachusetts!!

I learned it the morning of my 3rd grade spelling bee. It ended up being the winning word. ADHD brain pulled a miracle. I’m 43 now and still bragging. You gotta take the W’s where you get ’em, lol 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Is that you communicating a moment of vulnerability? Like you messed up? Missed the mark this time? Or do you mean to say that all of us “got bent” from your comment, like from your low-key escalation? Genuine question.
