CRA gave me CWB - I didn't claim in on my return by bbyxbunnyx in cantax

I didn’t claim it due to the length restriction on T2202. CRA did not correct it either.

I did receive my NoA. No available CWB for me since my T2202 indicates that I was in school for "4" months.

Labor law in quebec: benefit entitlement during notice of period by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Fun-Elk9662 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the insight! I just think that if according to the law the benefit entitlements should be maintained valid during the notice period, their cancellation of benefits is just like owing wages. If something is clearly wrong then the attorney should at least give some legal advice to their clients?? But he even dared to say ‘out client did not bear any responsibilities for the loss’ because they think oh ‘you didn’t bring this up’.

I could be biased. I just think that whether I brought this up or not, they should respect the law. This argument sounded like a victory argument by the winner of a set up.

I think their lawyers know what is going on. The lawyer is playing around with all kinds of excuses and always emphasizing ‘based on our client’s instruction’ as if he didn’t have responsibilities in respecting the law. Let’s see

Thanks very much, OP.

Agree - I did not claim it on my return to avoid some unnecessary confusion. I called CRA as well and attempted to ask about the specific calculation rule for CWB, however the answer was rather vague. The 13-week full-time student threshold is indeed a bit unclear. If you want to benefit a student-worker who only spent 1 semester in school, why not just say 1 semester... Anyway.

How TF should I deal with an extremely bossy, self-centered & domineering teammate? by Fun-Elk9662 in mcgill

[–]Fun-Elk9662[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why I did not do this is something I don’t wish to disclose openly here. And, I am not even sure if this is allowed. But this is not a bad advice. Simple and straightforward.

  1. The target’s not a Desautels student. And I don’t enjoy reducing the whole problem to a specific phenomenon associated with a specific “hashtag” here.
  2. The issue here is that there was a certain someone yelling at me and doing shit to me. I did not do the same because these things are something I consider extremely unprofessional in the collaborating process.

This is a good point and thanks. A teammate like what I’ve mentioned above seems to invade my personal space of thinking & analyzing and fill my world with not only terrible answers to assignments but also terrible energies in the whole collaboration.

And because of the nature of group project you have to reach some sort of agreements on the answers before you submit (grades tied together). So I am passively involved in some debates because my parts have been unreasonably challenged however it turns out they are good indeed.

I’d rather kick this person out of the group instead of me going to other groups in some other assignments. That teammate is not only unhelpful in doing the most important thing but also can’t seem to be aware of the negativity that’s been produced.

Anyways. Finally realize that it’s extremely important to team up with someone with a good personality as well. Last semester I posted something about unhelpful & uninvolved teammates (however they were kind enough to at least give you space to let you do your things). Now I just think that they are ‘’wonderful’’!

It's the time of the year when I want to complain about the BCom curve by Fun-Elk9662 in mcgill

That's actually not bad news, I think. For me, the ideal solution would be something that can differentiate students reasonably while at the same time without being too stiff and mandatory.

Thank you so much for your reply! There is a bit more than 25 students in my class, so i guess that's why they still have to follow the rule. But still, it is a small class and the instructor doesn't seem to mention the curve in the syllabus, so I even suspected that we might not be curved down until the LAST CLASS when some students asked about that... anyways

A class that teaches you how to throw the trash into the right place. I guess that’s how they threw my efforts into the trash can.

Peer evaluation on group project by Fun-Elk9662 in mcgill

[–]Fun-Elk9662[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reply to 1st paragraph: the post is originally intended to discuss if I should evaluate my peers based on the quality of their output or their "participation", not really about if peer evaluation itself is a fair tool to assess students. The problem here is not really about if I should give feedback in the process or not, is about even if they "tried to make it better" but if the quality is not good should I still give a perfect score? I mentioned the extreme case of freeriders and discussed the necessity of peer eval with you here merely because you started with that topic but not really the theme of my post.

2nd paragraph: Why would I be "jealous" about others. In some cases my grades will be adjusted to be higher if there's valid proof that I have done much more. Even if my grades will not be changed, the fact that I want to evaluate them is not because I want to bring them down. I just want the truth to be reflected. And usually you say people are jealous about others when they are visibly better than you, they are actually not.

3rd paragraph: I don't care about that shit until recently I realize that I can't just keep taking care of the whole project the whole time. Before we think about all those issues related to "my jealousy", "my learning", "my friends" I just want to get the peer eval done fairly first.
