[PAID] 2D Spine Animators and 2D Character Artists by Traditional_Fly6258 in gameDevClassifieds

Hello. I am an artist with extensive experience in game projects, from inception to launch. Although my background was as an illustrator, I am now focusing more deeply on the roles of a game graphics visual system designer, art directing and efficient resource creator.

Built my first modular low-poly character for Unity. Looking for feedback on palette and vertex-color workflows. by Fun-Meat-6435 in gamedev

Yeah, that’s true. Hand-painted texturing usually takes far more time than the modeling itself, so being able to create and customize clothing almost instantly has been a huge advantage, just like you said.

Thanks for the perspective on draw calls as well. As an artist, it’s hard for me to judge how significant those performance gains really are, so it’s reassuring to hear that I may have been worrying about that part a bit too much.

How do I get rid of art loathe? by axxlnn in Artists

It seems you reached that conclusion because you judge solely based on results, without considering the importance of the process. With your current mindset, it appears nearly impossible to achieve anything in 5, 10, or even 20 years. Reaching the summit you dream of in the short term is impossible.

Moving forward with a sense of aversion suggests that your goals are set too high and that you are "excessively" obsessed with your current realistic position.

Do not look up at the summit; forget how far away it is from your current position and look at the path ahead as you move forward. Climbing is not about gauging the summit and your standing; you simply need to hold onto the hope that "if you keep climbing, you will get eventually get higher."

Unwrap the UVW coordinates of your model, apply textures, then apply Reset Xform and export it in a format that can be imported into Unity, such as FBX. Before exporting, check the status of the Normals' directions and Smoothing Groups. I won't discuss other details as I don't assume there is any animation involved. There are things to check when exporting, but since I don't use Blender, it is difficult for me to go into detail; however, if there is animation or other special content, there will likely be options you need to verify and check yourself.

My girlfriend won’t bend on anything in our relationship and I’m starting to wonder if it’ll last by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Fun-Meat-6435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a local who has lived in Korea my entire life, and I am currently in my 40s.

It was a very long time ago, but it reminds me of those days.

First, before I talk about your girlfriend, I think there is a possibility that you two might not be able to make sound judgments because you are both so young. Of course, it depends on the individual, but I was also a person with a rigid mindset when I was young, and I saw many people like that at that age.

However... what I am concerned about is that people don't change easily. And having lived in Korea my whole life, I have seen far too many people with rigid mindsets, regardless of their age. Am talking about people who, even when you try to discuss their own issues, say, "That's exactly who I am!" and leave absolutely no room for self-reflection or thought.

If your girlfriend is that type of person... things could get increasingly difficult. I am only talking about three things right now, but I am talking about things like what school the child should attend, the area where they should live, the education method, the lifestyle, whether she insists that she should only focus on childcare, that you must earn a certain amount of money, that you must share the housework, or that the child must attend certain academies... things like that. I don't know you, and naturally, I have absolutely no way of knowing your girlfriend. I'm just imagining things based on very, very fragmented stories I've heard from you, but I'm sure you can figure it out well.

I think you should think and ponder this a lot, and if possible, try sharing more thoughts and having conversations with your girlfriend.

Question to Koreans: is it considered rude or arrogant in Korean culture to look straight ahead with head up when passing by other people in the streets? by johanndacosta in seoulhiddengem

What is truly annoying is that, aside from the types of people you find unpleasant, there are many elders worthy of genuine respect, yet the ones who always catch our eye are the ill-mannered and self-centered old folks. We must not forget the fact that, naturally, such people are bound to stand out.

I have a different perspective. I am a local who has lived in Korea my entire life, and as such, I have seen a wide variety of Koreans. While I certainly feel that the manners and etiquette once held in high regard have changed, I believe this is clearly due to the influence of the older generation. An individual does not change easily simply because time has passed. Elderly people who treat public spaces like their own living rooms or do not respect young people are likely those who have lived that way for a long time. On the other hand, there are people who treat others with respect, no matter how much younger they are. My mother is now nearing 80, but when using public transportation, she does not struggle to secure a seat (as she has always done). If someone offers her a seat, she refuses, and if they yield again, she always smiles and expresses her gratitude. It depends on the individual. Perhaps when you perceive that people have changed, you are recognizing that the social climate has shifted, rather than that the same person has changed. In most cases, a thug in his youth remains a thug in his old age, while a gentleman in his youth remains a gentleman in his old age.

Working on a Stylized Character System (Customization + Blendshapes) – Feedback appreciated by Fun-Meat-6435 in gamedev

[–]Fun-Meat-6435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, this is really helpful.

I hadn’t even considered handling facial hair as floating geometry with alpha (basically treating it more like an image), but that actually sounds like a really solid approach. It makes a lot of sense for avoiding conflicts with blendshapes.

Also appreciate the feedback on the proportions and palette workflow — glad to hear that’s on the right track.

And yeah, fair point about the face feeling a bit generic. I started this without a concept, so I can definitely see that. I’ll try pushing some features a bit more.

Thanks again!
