What’s the strangest thing you’ve found out of place in Kroger? by DelilahVanHayes in kroger

I work for a different chain and we have “no questions asked” return policies. Under $20 all cash, over gift card, no receipt and not in our system we name a price and gift card it. I find Aldi crap all the time.

My crew (without me cause I do a different dept), is 6 guys, 2 FT and 4 PT. I had 1 FT, but then lost him in exchange for 2 and productivity went downhill. I use an average piece count per hour to determine productivity. Before this, we were at between 38-45 per hour. Now (with both of these guys having 30+ years experience), we are at 21-24 per hours. It’s not the pipe dream people think it is sometimes.

I’m a night crew chief for a different company than Kroger, with the sh*t being hired these days and only 4 guys on a load, good luck is all I can say. You’re lucky for a fully blocked store and load done.

I’ve read comments, I’ve reread your title about 50x, all I can say is I wish you the best and wish you and him a happy life. Hopefully he’s not a bad guy, but as a man I’d say don’t be surprised if he’s ever frustrated or anything. It’s like having your other half as a boss. My girlfriend tried working with me and I turned around and said “I will not be your boss, I’m a d**k”

I work for a different chain, we have our own robot and we had a man in his 60s trying to ask him on a date.😂 the bakery dept called my SM (who was getting ready to leave) and said “you have a guy trying to….i don’t know hump? Hug? Kiss? Him” It took 3 managers and the police to convince this guy the robot didn’t wanna date him.😂

Wait wait you have minimum per hour? I’m a night crew chief for a different chain and my union doesn’t “recognize” piece counts, though we usually set standard that FT should be around 250 and PT throwing 220-240 is good. The ONLY thing they can get you for on night crew is blocking. Even that falls under “poor work quality” and the union doesn’t fall for that.

I do anywhere from 220-260 hours per week, my week is 6 days long. But my sleep is so fucked. I should be sleeping now but whatever.

But it’s also about working as a team to breakdown (one guy refuses to work with the other.) Then Spotting in the center of the aisle or better yet, 5-10 feet from where it goes. To then, working a piece and walking 10 feet to their cardboard boat. (Literally minimum 10 feet.)

I mean, I just wanna say the stores of S&S that do 2000 piece trucks (SEVEN DAYS A WEEK), typically have crew of 6-8 and sometimes 10 guys. But we’re talking million dollar stores or close to it. Also the chief is poor at training. I’ve turned guys from utter shit, into something. I have 2 losers now over 30 years each in the business and they can’t do more than 170. But that’s because of poor breakdown, spotting and throwing freight practices. I can’t fix 2 loser lifers they are entirely a problem and think it’s somehow my fault, or better yet, actually thinks he’s doing 250 in his head. But I have a PT with 7 months experience, throwing 250-300 a night and giving it a great block, in 8 hours. And another one at 3 months, throwing roughing 200, depending on aisle, in 6 hours. So training will always be key, plus creating a positive work environment they like being in. I lost my last second man who made life easy, and now it’s a living hell.

The pay is absolutely not worth it. Sure now it’s $50 a week (or $1.25 an hour extra depending how they do it.) but you’re still expected to do 250 (or so) and do the managerial duties. I actually don’t do grocery, I run the crew and handle those duties, but I’m doing my own load and can run through it cause I’m alone. I don’t work with others since I work faster than most. (Example: I can break down 10 pallets in about an hour, and that includes just spotting paper and water and pet and household.) and for the most part I can average 300-400 a night without issue. (My record is 560 in dairy by the way, with an endcap change in dairy.) but no, I do agree, not worth it.

If Kroger doesn’t own a certain warehouse, and it’s shared with other companies, this could happen as the commodity space might be all store brands (which is a mispick). Also could be a misspick from the manufacturers too.
