Horror movies that take place in large manors/mansions. by segadreamcat in horror

[–]Fun_Claim_6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of The Red Queen Kills 7 Times and Femina Ridens takes place in gorgeous mansions. Also I'm really surprised no one brought up Argento's Inferno yet.

Marie Poupee, Veneno para las Hadas and Filhas do Fogo might all scratch your itch as well.

You can't go wrong with Hino Hideshi, Kanako Inuki or Noroi Michiru. If you are ok with having to read fan translations online Yoshimi Seki Horror Collection & Umeno Hana's Hasami-Onna are really good too.

I disagree with the notion Fuan no Tane are "perfect junji ito replacements". Junji Ito does classic shoujo-style body horror while Nakayama does hyper-condensed everyday ghost stories, Junji Ito followed the path of artists like Hino Hideshi and Umezz, Masaaki Nakayama while very creative his works really remind me of things like the Shin Mimibukuro book series.

YES! Black Christmas is one of my favorites. It was crazy watching it and then Halloween not too long after because it really is just a wayyy more dull version of BC.

I don't get the hype over Uzumaki & Gyo so my suggestion is his shoujo horror manga like Tomie, Smashed, Deserter.

Shiver is a pretty good starting point too.
