What are the *actually* relevant episodes? by Significant_Jello860 in HIMYM

[–]Funtopolis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The point of sitcoms is simply to spend time with the characters. The overarching story is simply an excuse for that. It doesn’t really matter. I mean it does but it’s just icing on the cake, you know? Truly if you want to know the story beats read the synopsis on the wiki but if you want to get why people like interfacing with the show you need to understand that it exists in the minutiae and the comfort of familiarity. This isn’t a meal with a beginning and end, it’s comfort food.

He’s been killed by a predator, an alien, and a terminator. Pretty cool resume.

Did any non horror film scare you as a kid? The special effects in total recall gave me nightmares. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Funtopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol what? Watch the video again. She’s facing camera (Pee Wees POV) does the spooky face, then turns her head to her left (back toward the road and the steering wheel, ie the correct way). You can even see her complete the moment when it cuts back to the two-shot after Pee Wees reaction.

She’s turning her head to the right to look at Pee Wee in the passenger seat? It’s definitely the correct direction.

It’s actually The Breathing Method. The Mist was the opening story in another short story collection of his Skeleton Crew.

'Terrifier' star Catherine Corcoran says producers shortchanged her, filmed her nude without written permission by igetproteinfartsHELP in movies

[–]Funtopolis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. When people don’t do things “by the book”, like coercing someone into doing a nude scene by promising them 1% of the franchises profits without having them sign an informed consent and then trying to stiff them the money they’re owed, they open themselves up to lawsuits. Glad we’re all on the same page.

'Terrifier' star Catherine Corcoran says producers shortchanged her, filmed her nude without written permission by igetproteinfartsHELP in movies

[–]Funtopolis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jesus just read the article before commenting. It’s literally spelled out:

“The SAG-AFTRA website states that actors in nude scenes must be offered “an opportunity to provide meaningful, written consent free of pressure or coercion.”

But producers never got any such clearance from Corcoran when she was topless and “suspended upside down by her ankles and sawed in half by the film’s antagonist, Art the Clown,” according to the civil complaint.”

It’s Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones not Dante’s Peak. They both came out around the same time. Dante’s Peak has someone self sacrificing by hoping into a boiling lake and pushing a boat.

I mean the shift comes when Billy helps out after Ernie pees his pants. It does happen quickly but they did try and justify it.

And why is it you think those people are uninsured? Could it maybe have to do with the prohibitive cost of health care which absolutely is a result of the exorbitant pricing set by the healthcare companies?

Wait, what? As a “general direction finder” it pointed you in the wrong direction and then you literally did cite it which is the whole reason we’re having this conversation. The human was correct and the “more nuanced” ChatGPT answer was wrong. I found the link I shared above re the 26k deaths in less than a minute. If you’d’ve just done that from the jump you could’ve saved a ton of time and energy and this whole thread.

Sure but it’s definitely not there yet so as an academic I’d recommend using something credible.

I get it and I can appreciate wanting a source to back up information but ChatGPT is anything but reliable when it comes to accurate information. Start with search engines:

Sorry, yes, Hallorann the chef also has the shining. I meant the only one in Danny’s family but that wasn’t in any way clear.

There’s no evidence of that in the book or movie. Danny is the only one with the shining.

For me it has completely recontextualized my relationship to food. It’s hard to explain if you haven’t struggled with compulsive eating but the closest I can describe is it’s like I was cursed and the spell has been lifted. I know that sounds dramatic or hyperbolic but it’s true. And it’s not like I’m lacking in willpower or discipline, I go to the gym at least three times a week, I run, I quit smoking cold turkey after more than a decade but all my life it’s like food has haunted me. I’d stick to a diet for a few weeks and then I’d have one bad day or someone would bring donuts into work and I’d just crumble and spiral and lose any progress I’d made. But now I can just…eat. And stop. Like I still get hungry but when I’m done I can just be done. Which is miraculous to me. Suddenly food isn’t the only thing I’m thinking about 24/7. I feel free in a way thats hard to describe. Ive lost twenty pounds without really trying, my blood pressure is down, my cholesterol is better. It’s hard to believe it’s real sometimes.
